freethrow shooting

Repetition. I just don't think they are doing enough of it. An uncontested shot at the free throw line should be practiced until you can't lift up your arms every day.

Free throw shooting either you can shoot them or you can't, unfortunately too many dudes on this team that suck at free throw shooting, hopefully some of these guys can improve some but they probably won't ever be great at shooting them. I have always been very good at free throw shooting but have someone guard me my shooting percentages go way down. I cannot understand how a basketball player cannot hit at least 60 percent all the time?

I don't believe this "you can't coach FTs" stuff. We need some team rules:

1. Don't give a scholly to anyone with < 65% FT shooting in high school

2. Anyone player that falls under 65% FT shooting doesn't play in a game, until they can make > 75 out of 100 FTs in practice to show improvement.

The Spurs hired a shooting coach. Tim Duncan has improved his free throw shooting and the same with Tony Parker. Proper tecnique can improve all shooting. During practice they have someone that holds something that looks like a canoe paddle about 11 feet high and they practice putting the proper arc on the shots. Seems like a silly waste of time for a NBA team if it did not work.

My 10 y.o. daughter who works with a couple of Varsity players from the school she'll eventually attend has access to a machine that tracks shooting arc and number made in FT practice. I find it hard to believe THE University of Texas wouldn't have such a machine.

The Big 12 needs a few Bubba Jennings, Dennis Nutts and Jim Krivacs. Dudes that could hit consisently from downtown and always hit 90 percent of their freethrows, what happened to players like that?

You can coach better FT technique with guys who have horrible technique, but in the end, especially with limited 'coached' practice time (by the NCAA), it's up to the guys on the team to put in the repititions to make themselves better...

Exactly warrior, You can coach free throws or more accurately technique to shoot free throws. Depends on players to practice.
