France is not Texas

I'd take the freedom and independence of Texas over the socialism and big government of France any day. Hell, we'd be even better if we weren't dragged down by the rest of the country.

Also, I don't understand the argument above about the Muslim riots. If the riots were a natural outbreak of French government oppression of Muslims, isn't that a testament AGAINST France?

This thread is teetering dangerously close to West Mall material, so all I will say is this:

Bordeaux is the best wine on the planet IMO. It is delicious. Cotes du Rhone is pretty special, too. They taste great with a nice, rare steak.

One big problem though, is that the beef in France sucks. Their best beef is imported from Argentina, but it's difficult to get, and extremely expensive. A typical steak there is lower quality than a below-average steak here.

So, Texas and the USA still get my vote over France.

And, now I'm hungry.

Texas and France are quite different from each other and not really comparable but this thread is fun and both Texans and Frenchies are proud of where they are from.

I taught a training class to Texas Instruments in their large Nice campus. I had a great time there and the food was incredible. People were quite nice but I hear southern France is much friendlier than northern France (hmm, reminds of the USA in that manner).

I've done well enough in my life but seeing the opulence of the Monte Carlo casino and Monaco was something else. I expect today's Dubai to be similar and I hope to visit there in Feb.
