Florida Gators

So, my wife is from FL. FSU grad.

I've been around her family and relatives that are both Gators and Seminoles. Plus I draw on perceptions around that state over 40 years.

FL - FSU absolutely HATE each other.

Maybe more than UT-aggy. I say that because aggy hates UT with red hot passion, but I think UT is highly annoyed, feels a little sorry for lowly aggy and we somewhat despise aggy, but we dont generally hate aggy the same way they hate UT.

Just my .02
UF = UT of Florida
FSU = A&M of Florida*, but with a good football team most years
Miami = UH of Florida (in the Yeoman, Pardee, John Jenkins era), classless cheaters, crappy and scarce fan-base, but good on the field.

*but interestingly enough, UF has the agriculture school down there.

Chop,

If you ever gave them money, you would like them even more.

Of course, at one time, I gave money to the academic side of Texas, as well as the Athletic Department. The academic side sent me a really nice, "one size fits all", Non personalized card.

The mother of a good friend died of cancer at Shands. He and his brother asked that friends make a donation to the medical school oncology department or Shands. What I got in return for less money than one of my checks to Austin was:

1) A personalized letter from the university president
2) A personalized letter from the head of the medical school
3) A personalized letter from the head of the oncology department
4) A certificate showing I was a member of the Florida Foundation
5) Induction into the Florida Alumni Association
6) Invited to every UF function in Texas & Homecoming

So, except for this Saturday, I am a Florida fan. They have style and class, which our University lost in the 80s. Hopefully Hartzell will restore what we once had.
Greater Orlando was definitely Florida Gator territory. Even the locals didn't care much about UCF. The Panhandle has the best beaches and the biggest concentration of FSU fans. Only in SE Florida/Greater Miami did the U seem to prevail. Fickel fans down there in SE Florida. They'd rather watch a regular season/non-playoff race NY Yankees game on tv than a U. of Miami football game against a good opponent.

Greater Tampa seemed Gator dominant as well. Same with Ocala/horse country. All those places had some Noles, but they were very much 2nd fiddle outside of the Florida Panhandle, at least circa early/mid 1990s.

Napier now saying Lagaway could play. I don't know if he's saying that to make Texas prepare for 2 QB's or if it's real, but I can't imagine someone recovering from a grade 2 strain in a week without a miracle cure.

Play this weekend or play this season? I assumed it was the latter.

Yes, against Texas. I may not be a Dr. but there's one thing I do know, if he does play against Texas is was grossly mis-diagnosed as a grade 2 strain.

I went to the WLCP in 2006. Pre and post game were great, but the actual game was blah. They really need to adopt the Texas-OU seating versus the high school approach. If they did, it would rival the atmosphere and create a more competitive environment for the underdog.

I'm really intrigued by this hotshot young coach who is at Florida Atlantic. Should something happen with Sark (like USC stealing him away :rolleyes1: ) we might want to look into him as a replacement.
