Per Mack at his press conference this weekend, game time will be 6 p.m.

I think you're jumping the gun on 6pm, though you may turn out to be correct. Here's the quote from Mack on UT's site:
"There’s a lot of excitement, as I walked out of my office a few minutes ago, the Web site said 26 days, 23 hours, 53 minutes and 11 seconds until game time. Now, since the game time’s not set, I’m not sure how we know exactly what time that means, but that might mean if it was today, and there’s a lot of question marks on this football team, so we’ve got 26 days, 23 hours, 53 minutes and 11 seconds to figure them out."

Not quite a G. Bush destruction of the English language, but what I think he's trying to say is that the game's not necessarily at six and we've got a lot of things to work on between now and whenever we get down to business at DKR-HEB-McCombs-TacoBell-Jamail-Memorial field. or something like that...

The delay in announcing the starting time is pathetic. If the eventual announcement is for something good, then kudos are deserved. But if this is just building toward a grand announcement of PPV, then the decision-makers should be flogged.
And UT could definitely have fought for good time and coverage if it wanted to. If we don't get it, it's because someone dropped the ball.

6am ---> 6pm is the best for tailgating.

The AP rankings make a difference. We might be in the Top 10, and we might not. In the past, it was pretty much for sure that we would be. It makes a difference to the networks. If we are in the Top 10, we will probably be 10 as in the Coaches' poll. Either way, things are currently looking like a 7:00 p.m. PPV slot. 6:00 p.m. also in consideration. Say currently because it can literally change overnight. However, since last week it does seem more likely like it will be PPV, and thus a 6 or 7 kick.
