Five Reasons Texas Wins

Yep.
I remember a game where Adrian Peterson put up seemingly close to 200 yards rushing between the 20s but never crossed the goal line.
We won the game.

If you're talking about 2006, he put up 109 and he did score, but it was on a long run, so his ypc for the rest of the game was held down by our terrific D. If you're talking about 2004, he put up 225 and didn't score and we lost.

I'm fine with the naysayer monicker. I think all of those years where we lost by 35+ have proven me right when it comes to people doubting on OU. I think the past 10 years or so has switched into OU always being the favorite and Texas pulling the upset, and if we were to win tomorrow, it would be the same story. I think Herman needs to get us to the place where we're no longer the underdog every year, but having healthier players would help.

I was just messing with ya.

Consider this. If I am not mistaken our biggest loss in the Herman era is 10 points. (I’m too lazy to check.)

We were “in” many games that had no logical reason to even be close, like USC at the Coliseum, the RRR against Special Snowflake in 2017, or the Sugar Bowl.

I like our chances.

Lost by 17 to TCU in 2017 and by 12 to ou last year in December, but yes, very close games most of the time.

I like our chances, too.

Three reasons Texas might lose;

Hurts- leading candidate for the Heisman Award
Murray- leading candidate for the Butkus Award
Lamb- Leading candidate for the Biletnikoff Award

And all three went to high school in the Houston area. Shameful!

Yep, that was the game Vince tried to reach the ball over the goal line when it was still 1st down and got it knocked out. We score there and it's a different game. Instead he fumbles and we don't score. One of the few plays I was like Vince, NOOOO. No reason to reach on 1st down. Would have been 2nd and goal from the 1/2 yd line.

OU's missing both OTs and no ones talking about it. Especially considering they had to rebuild their OLine. I'd call the injuries a push. We won last 2 weeks without CJ. All I know is I like our OLine WAY more than theirs.

What OU does against HS competition has proven pretty irrelevant over the years. Them and Tech have always run it up against crap competition. They may beat us tomorrow, but at this point no one knows jack **** about their team. Until you play a top 10 team no one knows a thing about how you'll fare when you do. We held our own against LSU. To me that gives us an edge.

What I know for sure is if we beat them tomorrow we're assured of the CCG with tie breaks over both OSU and OU. Lose to them and we still probably have > 80% chance as we'd still have the tie break over OSU. As long as OU beat OSU we could still drop another game and make the CCG. But if we win we're double digit favorites in every game rest of the year.

Respectfully I think you are remembering the A&M game from maybe 04? That was a 14 point swing.
Colt was the QB in 06

I was talking about the 04 game that was mentioned in the post. I should have been more specific. That was the one Peterson had 225 and we lost 12-0. We had a 1st and goal at the 1 and Vince tried to reach the ball over the end line and they knocked it out and he fumbled. If I remember the 06 game right, our secondary was fantastic and we just outhit them all game long.

Yeah, I was at that ‘04 game; it was 6-0 into the 4th quarter and I was just sure we were going to win 7-6. OU added a TD, made it 12-0. We won 20 games in a row after that.

Vince did fumble once or twice in 2004, but it was 2003 when he fumbled at the 1. A&M 2004 was also a fumble at the 1, that was returned 99 yards for a TD.

The biggest kick in the gut to me in OU 2004 it when it was still 6-0 (or maybe 3-0), Nate Jones let a well- thrown 30+ yd touchdown pass bounce off his hands.

I’m hearing that Foster and Cosmi have generated some bulletin board material for OU Sux. Hope they can back it up. It also may mean that we are really ready for this contest.
