I am a long time Austin 360 poster, and have just registered here today. I thought, what a great idea to have a "prayer request" board.

Here's the thing. My wife and I are foster/adoptive parents. We currently have a little 9 month old baby boy in our care that we hope to adopt soon. If any of you have ever dealt with CPS, then you know that until the judge actually declares it a "done deal", then ANYTHING can happen.

I would appreciate any prayers and well wishes you could throw my wife's and my way in the next two months or so. The little boy came to us the week before Thanksgiving because his mother and his step-father severely abused him and his older sister. His older sister is now in the care of her biological father (they do not have the same father, btw) and his family. When the boy came to us, he had bruising all over his head and face, a fractured leg that was trying to heal, and three cracked ribs. He has always been the happiest baby you have ever seen in your life, despite everything he has been through. It has really taught my wife and I how important it is to struggle through adversity and come out of it on the other side.

If you can, please say a little prayer that my wife and I will be able to adopt this angel. Thank you.

The power of prayer has worked miracles in my life, and I truly appreciate any you can throw my family's way. God Bless...

Here's an update:

My son's biological father has now decided (after he has been in our care for almost four months) that he wants to THINK about taking him back. This is very bad news for us as CPS' first goal is always family reunification, even if it is not in the "best interests" of the child.

The biological father is very young (20 yrs old), and has another baby (maybe 2 months old) with another girl. He also has a history of drug use. CPS is determined, however, to at least allow him to try (despite the fact that they have already filed for termination of his parental rights).

Our son's biological grandmother is also posing a problem for us as well. She and her lawyer are threatening to file for an injunction against the termination of parental rights for our son's biological parents. She is trying very hard to get our son and his sister back. She refuses to admit that they were abused. When she sees the pictures, she claims that we put makeup on him to make the injuries look worse than they really were. She also tried to help her daughter flee with both children when CPS came to remove them. CPS, however, is so spineless that they continue to meet her demands for visits and such.

Sometimes it seems that CPS is not in the business of looking out for the best interest of the children. It seems more like they are in the business of covering their own you-know-whats...

I am very sorry for ranting here. I get very frustrated when I talk about it sometimes. Any prayers you can say for us would be VERY appreciated. I truly believe that everything will work out for us in the long run, but sometimes it gets more that a little frustrating...Thank you again...

It's been a few weeks now since you posted this message, but I want you to know that I've said a prayer for you today.

Grace and peace.

God can heal the wounds of even the worst abuse. If God indeed has chosen to bless you by making you an instrument of his healing, he will work it out for you.

Prayers.
