At this point this series can go either way. I think the Lakers really do need to win games 4 and 5 in order to win this series. I just can't see them going back to Boston for games 6 and 7 and winning both of them...1 will be hard enough. LA hasn't lost at home since March I believe and they have to be favorites to win game 4.
I think Boston's injuries and age is catching up to them slightly. When their bench explodes they get a huge lift and that will be needed in game 4. Traveling from Bosto to LA and playing 2 days later I think caught up to them in game 3. They just weren't moving the same on defense, were reaching, and weren't driving to the basket like they did in game 2.
Boston's outside shooting has been stellar this series and in large part to Ray Allen who really is on fire right now. Kobe played alll of the 4th QTR in game 3 I believe as it was a must win for LA and we will see if that catches up to him a bit...I would expect to see Phil try and rest him if he can in game 4 at times, especially in the first half.
Each of the last 2 games Boston has had amazing 3rd QTR's but struggled in the 4th QTR's and let leads slip away. This is another sign of their endurance level. LA may be well served by pushing the ball up the court.
I would expect both teams to shoot better from the line and their poor FT shooting in game 3 was in large part due to being worn out after game 2 and traveling back to LA.
With a little rest and a change of strategy from Boston this should be a very good game.
