Nadal holds a 5-2 edge over Federer in Grand Slam finals. 3 of those 5 victories have been at the French. Federer won 16 out of 27 slams from Wimbledon in 03 to the Australian in 2010. Nadal has won 3 out of the last 4 slams. Overall Nadal has 9 slams and he has won 6 out of he last 12 slams. Nadal is the #1 player in the world currently and Federer has slid to #3. Djokovic has won 41 straight matches this year including the Australian open before he lost to Federer in th semis...That was an unbelievable match, hope you didn't miss it. Nadal has won 5 out of the last 6 French open titles. Only Federer won during that stretch. Federer ended Nadal's clay court streak a few years back.

Nadal has proven himself to not be a one trick pony winning 4 other slams including Wimbledon twice. Nadal has won French and Wimbledon back to back.....TWICE!! When he first did it in 08 it was the first time in I believe 28 years since Borg did it 1980.
Federer responded by winning French/Wimbledon back to back in 2009. That gave Federer the career slam. Nadal also has won the career slam.

Roger Federer is considered the best tennis player of his generation and perhaps one of the greatest of all-time. Rafael Nadal is considered the best clay court tennis player of all-time and has been the world's #1 player 2 times including currently.

Nadal played earlier in the day on Friday and won in straight sets. Federer's match went 4 long sets and ended just before darkness. He will not get as much rest as Nadal and this could play a role.

Who will win? Likely Nadal as he is the king on clay. Whoever wins the first set will likely win the match. Should be another great day for tennis on Sunday.

This final does not have as much history on the line as the 2008 Wimbledon final did it is the 1st time we get to see this rivalry move to a hard court surface. This is the 1st time since Bjorn Borg in 1980 that the same man has won both the French and Wimbledon in the same year. This match (greatest of all time) lasted 4 hours and 48 minutes. Federe entered the French Open with a little momentum on his side. In the 1st set Federer was on the verge of breaking Nadal several times but did not convert any of the 10 break point chances that he had. Nadal seemed to keep his mental edge on clay over Federer.
