Favorite Texas-ou moment

Definitely Gardere to Walker in 1989:
The Link
No question. OU came in as the heavy favorite, winner of the last four Texas/OU games. Texas blew a 21-7 halftime lead, and didn't score again until Gardere's desperation pass right in front of us in the Texas end of the field. We screamed, we wept, we hugged total strangers. The fans stormed the field and halfway ripped down the goalpost. Nobody left for a long, long time after the game. I think I stayed for an hour after the final gun. My ears rang for the rest of the day.

The one year in college (in the 1960's) that a group of us did not make the trek to Dallas; watched on TV and 'drank in the stands', so to speak. After the game we decided to take in an Ingmar Bergman film on the Drag (something probably not even a good thing to do sober, much less after 'a few'). Two-thirds the way through one in our group could hold it no longer, and hurled. My memory is of the audience in front of us parting like the Red Sea as 'it' flowed downhill toward the screen.

'68 with Worster scoring with a few seconds left to win 26-20.

Close behind is '58, Royal's second year. OU had won a few in a row, including a 45-0 horse-******* in '56, but Royal in his first year in '57, closed to 14-21. In '58, the 2-point extra point rule was installed, and Texas used it to defeat OU, 15-14.

This was the first of 8 in a row amd 12 of 13 for Royal. Good times!

J.R.69 what was ironic about us using the 2 point play was that it was the first year it was used and Coach Royal had opposed the change while Coach Wilkinson was in favor of it.

Thanks 77Horn for such a fine read.

i will print that off for posterity reasons when I get to my office Monday.

A lot to pick from. Two moments from games I got to attend in person:

My number two would have to be 1990 sitting in the hot sun upper deck opposite the press box when Keith Cash made the catch II to get go ahead score and Lasher missed kick on last play of game and all of us going nuts in the stands.

Number one for me will always be 1994, I had seats right on goal line about 4 rows up and they were bleacher seats not even chair backs. For most of game they werent greatest view of the action, but thay had the best possible view of Texas' goal line stand at the end and Stonie's Clsk stonewalling OU on fourth down to win the game.
