Favorite school cafeteria food

At our junior high one of the most popular things is chili cheese rolls.

Two rolls with canned chili and shredded cheese over them. The chili tastes tinny, and over all it is gross. I don't see the attraction.

Jr. High yeast rolls in Temple were teh allsome. I would make a meal of them exclusively on occasion.

The rolls in my school district were legendary. Absolutely incredible.

Chicken fried steak and mashed potatos were awesome. And they were available every day in high school.

They also did a pretty good turkey and dressing for the last day before Thanksgiving and Christmas.

the rolls at my school were outstadning. That was my lunch basically everyday...three rolls and a coke.

Fiestada (Mexican Pizza).

Seriously, I can't believe none of you has said Square Hamburgers. They were like White Castle Sliders...but HUGE.

When I was in grade school, the cafeteria had a seconds table where you could get pb and jelly and other things. They fried their own chicken, and on fried chicken days, the seconds table had a tray of fried chicken livers, gizzards and hearts.

My school kicked ***.

damn, my taste buds have good memories of all these things. mouth is watering reading about them.

when I was little, my mom actually worked for the schools, which allowed her to purchase the food in bulk... so I ate those rectangular slices during summer too. cooking them from unfrozen in a toaster oven.

I actually remember only being allowed to buy lunch one or two days a week, I brought my lucnch. but thursdays was always hamburger or vegetable soup/grilled cheese. and sometimes they got the grilled cheese just perfect.
