Facts and thoughts on Bev Kearney lawsuit

I lived through that era, so not really outrageous statement, just added a bit of humor at the end thinking about "Ad Men". .
If your thought process is rooted in today's era of feminism, you probably dont have a prayer of understanding the societal position women were at in fifties and sixties.

I would add that any rational student of human behavior understands that this type of thing is not new. People (and men in particular) are flawed creatures, from a purist, morality point-of-view. It's all that DNA screaming to get replicated coursing through our veins. Propagation of the species can be a powerful force that occasionally defeats even great men.

The only difference between then and now is that now it's frequently discussed publicly, and before, reporters just didn't go down that path.

I'm not rooted in feminism, but I am certainly not rooted in discrimination or false accusations.

I find no humor in your statement that you agreed with and do you think the female posters find any in it?

I lived through that era too and grew up in a small town in northeast Texas not exactly a liberal haven so I know every bit as much or more about it than you.

Too bad some people cannot remember and have have no sense of humor. Terrible way to go through life.

Being from east Texas, NB7 perhaps you can name a couple of football players from the sixties that do not have their names on the DKR Memorial Stadium wall that should be there and why they are not. I know they played and won national championships and weren't booted from the team.

Oh, and check out Bobby Layne's tenure at UT. I know he predates DKR, but he didn't seem to get booted either.

Different times.

You made no reference to humor just said I miss those days.
What is humorous about the statement?

That you find anything humorous about it is troubling to say the least. That you do is a far worse way to conduct one's life. I remember it well as I said and found no humor in what was happening then. I still don't and I find that to be consistent.

People on this board have known me for years and know I have a great sense of humor. I don't see anyone, but you finding this humorous.

No, I will never find it humorous that females would be treated in such a way. Again tell us what you find humorous about females being discriminated against?

Your referencing players? You do realize Applewhite was a "coach" at the time of this which is all I have talked about, never players. Maybe you don't, it's hard to tell with you. There is a difference you know or maybe you don't think so, but I assure you there is. They are suppose to have this thing called responsibility that they are even suppose to pass on to their players if possible. You know the whole teacher and student relationship that coaches are supposed have as opposed to what Coach Applewhite did.

Do you actually read any of these posts? It sure doesn't seem you do.

As I said let's see if some of our female posters find it humorous. I think that would be a much better source than you.

I hate seeng the "DKR would never have stood for this" crap. He was a great coach, but as someone who was involved with two people during the 68-71 period (brother and boyfriend) there were major double standards. You're a star? You can do anything you want. Anything. 2nd or 3rd stringer? You might need to be a bit more careful, but still no major consequences. I remember hearing that at least one of the All-Americans was very hung-over during the '71 Cotton Bowl that we lost to Notre Dame. Any chance he would have been summarily sent home? No. Great man, great coach, but not perfect.

People we are talking about coaches not players, their is a higher standard for adult "coaches." Players are mostly still kids even legally so.

I made plain reference in that he let some players get away with some things. I ask again does anybody actually read these posts before replying. It was even plainly stated above your post!
