I find it funny that the idea of Christianity is brought up to support or ridicule this movie because it had little to do with Christ. I guess that’s just Western hubris for you. Most of the passion against ID is based on anti-Christian sentiments.

I think the movie asks a few simple questions. Can science currently explain the creation of life? The answer is no.

If we do not know what caused life to begin, then any belief is based on faith, not science. I thought this point was well illustrated with “scientists” saying alien seeds or crystals started life. This, of course, is a fantasy created to explain the things we cannot understand (much like the Greeks did when creating their pantheon). The real scientific answer is we don’t know, and we are still investigating. To believe in a monumental impossibility is faith based whether it includes talk of gods or not.

If you believe that Darwin’s theories are a sufficient explanation to the mechanisms that cause evolution, you are either being intellectually dishonest, or you don’t know what the **** you’re talking about. If we establish scientific dogmas, then we are screwed until another Copernicus shows up.

And is "the Greek pantheon" a fantasy any more than the Christian construct? If so, how do you know?
