Ewers, Worthy & Long Passes

Couldn’t tell you which game (and I’ve seen it twice) but not the one you’re talking about. That was a more spectacular effort. Mine was amazing because he never broke stride, just leaned back and pulled it in - easy as pie, except it wasn’t.

If I was Sark, Worthy wouldn't play in a game until he was catching every ball in practice that was deemed catchable. Oh he is going to learn concentration, focus and hand placement.
He would be out there in practice every day catching those deep ones. He would have to give an explanation for every ball that bounces off or goes through his hands.
one of those deep ones went right through his hands like he barely touched it. I would drill that prima dona til he was catching every ball since Sark insists on playing him. I would have Worthy NFL ready and he would thank me for it.
I remember seeing Shipley using a football throwing machine. He was amazing.
There is no excuse for Worthy's hands not being configured correctly when the ball is coming in. maybe his eyesight is bad or something. sure looks like it sometimes. Someone asked Larry Bird for advice to get better. "practice, practice, practice".
Worthy is in a position for greatness. His speed enables him to constantly get separation. He just needs confidence when the ball is arriving and hand eye coordination. I played college baseball for four years starting catcher. Boy I learned hand eye coordination, timing and seeing the ball all the way in, which I think helped me a lot in catching a football.

What if he’s actually doing that in practice?
This is a good point, although it would surprise me. If that is the case then Sark and Marion will need to come up with a different practice and training methodology. And no doubt, they now know that.

Based on his unreliability, his value as a threat and his importance to the offense has been significantly compromised. I hope the problem can be fixed.

I honestly think 2 catches went to his head:
  1. 4th and G against ISU - perfect whip route to take the lead in the 4th quarter
  2. 3rd and 6 from the 13 against KSU - the perfect fake then flag route to completely ruin that DB when QE threw the ball before he even broke on it. Got a 21-10 lead (and then a 31-10 lead a few minutes later on an easy one).
His praises were ENDLESS on WR social media because of those. NFL guys giving him props. Former coaches or street agents who run those clinics in the summer with every sort of emoji on them. High school players emulating the plays.

Honestly, he probably thought he could parlay those clips into some big portal news.

The TCU game exposed him for his attitude when he couldn't get the ball, and then that was followed up with a game where WRs weren't necessary against KU because Bijan had one of the most complete RB performances for anyone, ever. I think Sark and Marion/Milwee probably then changed gears and said "we need to get him the ball as much as possible or he's bolting," leading to the million targets he received but also the big, big drop.

It is becoming more apparent to me that this kid is mostly about himself. Perhaps an unfair take, but based on one source I know that is very well connected, that seems likely.

He almost certainly leveraged the threat to
portal last summer into more NIL money, and he probably did it again over the past month or so. You have to wonder what his teammates think. We saw QE visibly upset with the dropped the passes against Washington and if I am not mistaken, JT Sanders also had a very public word or two with him on the sideline in that game. Then there was the incident that involved Savion Red. Many think it had something to do with Worthy.

Sark stated in a recent press conference that if a player is here for the money, he is not here for the right reasons. Sure seems like Worthy is the poster child for that type of individual. I’d love to be wrong, but I doubt it. On balance he let the team down last year, and he appears to have been a Drama Queen as well.

Sark has a dilemma. It will be interesting to see how it plays out between now and September. The drama will likely be ongoing, which cannot be good for the cohesiveness of the team.

The players have to take the lead here, which apparently they are trying. They need to bring one of those inflatable T-Rexes (weak arms) to the sideline and bring it out every time Worthy has a weak play. Mocking may be the only thing that works on him (given his ego).
