Ewers is Back, Baby!!!

Oh, by the way.

I'm not a doctor, but a legit AC joint sprain in the throwing shoulder means to me that we won't see Ewers again this season before the CCG or bowl game.

We'll be riding on Maalik or Arch for the rest of our conference games.
If it were grade 3, absolutely out. Ewers has a grade 2, so there is hope he heals quickly.

Ewers running style was bound to get him banged up. Unlike Vince, ewers could not make people miss.
Quinn has good speed running straight ahead but simply is not shifty enough to avoid hits.

I’ve never seen Malik scramble. Maybe he has some moves that will allow him to avoid tacklers.I hope so. That would be a big asset to our offense. Plus, it would give Sark a great chance to add the QB option to our arsenal.
I am not a fan of the qb scramble. With Sam, as noted above, he was fullback playing qb. QE is not built like that and the continuity at that position far outweighs the risk of running. Now if we incorporate the zone read on the receiver in motion, that would slow defenses down but that doesnt appear to be in Sarks playbook. As he commented today about how effective the crossing routes are against us, I had to wonder if they are so effective why arent we using them more? Just opining!

This is all a bit ironic because I thought, early in his Tx qb career that Ewers threw too soft or lazy a ball and would suffer way too many interceptions. Now we’re talking about Malik throwing too hard, sort of Aaron Rogers like. Just find it interesting.

I am afraid that is the world we live in nash. One man’s gold is another man’s crap sandwich.lol
But I am really glad we have the guys we’re got in the qb room.
For example if OU lost Dillion to an injury they would be in a world of hurt. 2nd team Arnold is good but not a Maalik or an Arch at this juncture.

I found Sarks comment interesting that if game was today Malik would be the starter. Seems to tell me Arch has a chance to move up - but he could have just meant unless Malik gets hurt he is the starter, or maybe I’m just too hyped.

We are faced with a number of interesting conundrums. While most are obvious, this one might not be.

What happens if Malik lights it up Saturday? (I know, we should be so lucky.)

But a highly proficient Murphy is not without consequences. So if he does light it up — and I would be thrilled — how does that affect Arch Manning going into 2024? It’s an interesting interesting scenario that is not without potential challenges.

That is a worry, but a February worry.

It's just not realistic. Look at the progress Quinn has made between last year and this. Completion percentage is up over 10%. Last 4 games it's up closer to 20%. Look at the difference Colt made between his freshman and jr. years. I just want to find a way to win these next 4 games and get Quinn back. I can't imagine either MM or Arch getting us to 6-1 and beating Bama. Good thing is If MM can get around 58-60% and not turn the ball over we have a good chance to win every game.

So a QB who's never played meaningful snaps in a real game is going to come in and make the 16th rated QB in all of college football look like crap?? I call BS on that one.
Run, yours is certainly a reasonable assessment and in fact, I am not necessarily agreeing with “Rico.” That said, it’s not impossible for Murphy (or Manning) to come in and be sufficiently proficient Saturday, more proficient next Saturday, and so on.

Is either Quinn Ewers today? Absolutely not. And I would prefer to have QE behind center Saturday. I hate that he is injured. But from an upside standpoint, I’m starting to wonder how Murphy and Manning’s ceiling may compare to Quinn’s ceiling.

I’ll bet that all three will be starting QBs in the NFL.

I hope that Sark doesn't keep Murphy in after he throws 2 interceptions the first half. Knowing Sark (as well as I do) he'll keep him in no matter what.

So how well do you know Sark?
You guys have dinner together?
You really have any idea why he didn't pull Ewers last year?
Maybe it was because the only other option he had was Card as Murphy was hurt.
And knowing card would be a transfer this year. What would be the motivational factor?
Maybe he just decided to let Ewers take his lumps so that he could be a better quarterback this season.
Which by the way he is.
So maybe you don't really know what Sark is thinking after all.
And maybe his decision making process this season will be totally different.

The irritating part is some of the games we played should have had the lead enough to get good reps for the backup qb. There are several reasons we have not but the biggest is we do not the cut throat instinct to put teams away.

Quinn is not at his ceiling. He is a sophomore. Colt, Vince (put in anyone else) was not at their ceiling in their sophomore year.
Quinn will continue to progress and get better. Just as Malik and Arch will.

Carry, you’re certainly correct. However, the question about ceilings is legitimate. And as of now, we really have no sense of where his, Murphy’s, or Manning‘s ceiling would be, although we know more now about Ewers than about the other two players. Additionally, we really don’t know the limitations of either Murphy or Manning, but we’re starting to get a sense of some of Quinn‘s “potential” shortcomings.

There’s no decision to be made now, because Ewers is out, and Murphy or Manning will be in, at least this Saturday.

Watching LHN> Damn as going to miss it

Sark is rocking a Nathan Detroit gangsta look. Black shirt, black tie and a cringe worthy orange/black plaid jacket
