Erin Hogan to be announced as new PD at ESPN Radio

Talked to Bucky this weekend for probably 20 minutes, mostly about the situation at 1300. Today's "things he needed to take care of" are of that nature. I don't think he'll be back tomorrow. If he is, it's only to make an announcement. He's MISERABLE.

I did let him know there are 1000s of us out there who support him and feel his pain. He cocked an eyebrow at the "feel your pain" part and asked, "Is it that obvious?"

The only things worth a damn in the AM is when Bucky, the NFL former player or that Jacob Dettimer dude are on.

Hey, I like Dee/Zee Hanson. He knows his stuff. Even on the AJ show (who has gotten better now that Gregg is gone.)

How do these on-air contracts work? Why can't they just leave and go to a better place? Are these people indentured servants?
What are the legalities here? Educate us, someone in the know. Thank you.

I'm sorry, but I can't find anything anywhere that says that Erin Hogan is going to 1530. When is this announcement supposed to take place? And how do you know this?

caught the end of buckys show today, sure sounds like he might be gone. he didn't state that but it seems that way. the blitz was pretty funny and I could usually care less about it.

So Bucky is there today. Is he leaving or is he staying?

With this and the lack of any confirmation about the E Hogan news, I'm beginning to think that some on this thread don't know as much as they say.

It's pretty funny listening to Bucky now. He was talking a few weeks ago about how he never takes sick days. Now he seems to take at least one day off a week. Pretty smart if you ask me.

On-air media contracts tend to heavily favor management because on-air jobs are in such high demand. Many, if not most, of them contain non-compete clauses that prevent on-air talent from working in the same market for a competing station for a certain length of time after they leave station #1 (1 year is pretty common).

That being said, there's no "standard form contract" for the radio industry, so there's really no telling what E and/or Bucky's contracts say, or if they even have contracts. I was on the air for 5 years and never had an employment contract.

E Hogan as PD at 1530 is great news. That said, don't all ESPN radio stations broadcast Mike and Mike in the mornings? Are there any known exceptions to this? Assuming that, even if Erin makes it back on the air, and if they are able to get Bucky to switch over (which I would love btw), they would get stuck doing a mid-day or afternoon show. I would be ok with them doing an afternoon show because I can listen on the drive home, but that still doesn't fix the absence of quality radio in the mornings.

Since there is nothing official, it is rumor at this time. When this changes, a new thread can happen. I hope it happens, I hope Bucky goes over as well.
