Dyson Vacuum

I just bought a Dyson animal vacuum today. I was worried that these things were more hype than delivery- but my god I was impressed. I vacuumed yesterday with my old vacuum and it was pathetic. I could see stuff on the carpet that it wouldn't suck up. I've been thinking about getting a Dyson in the near future, but decided to go ahead and do it now.

I'm not shitting you- I filled the canister to max by only doing the living/dining room, and I live in an apartment. Filled it again doing a small hallway and my bedroom, and my sister filled it a third time doing her room. This thing is AMAZING.

No doubt. Dyson kicks serious ***. We've had ours for about 9 months now & I'm still amazed at how much power it has & the amount of super fine dust & dirt & extracts.

Damn those things are huge. I don't know if my Oreck is worth a ****, but at least it is small and light.

Speaking of Oreck, I love the way you can go in there and negotiate. I ended up buying their top of the line vacuum, some floor steamer deal, and a cordless iron. I think he reduced the retail price by about a grand, but he and I both knew I was getting it straight in the ***.

I've had one for a while. The first couple of months, they are outstanding. Then, like every other vacuum cleaner, they lose some suction. I break mine down and hit it with the compressed air every couple of months and it brings it back to life. They are awesome.

Dyson's aren't any bigger than a normal vacuum cleaner, and they kick Oreck's ***. We've had ours for well over a year now and it's still going strong. No idea why anyone would nead to break it down and clean it. It's been great. An absolute must for dog owners.

My parents were real caught up in the hype and were just about to buy one and decided to wait. Shortly after my mom was watching one of those morning shows before she went to work and they were testing all the new vacuum cleaners. She said the Saavy (sp?) performed the best, followed by the Dyson. I can't remember who makes the Saavy. They didn't factor in price at all when ranking them. I am thinking the Saavy was cheaper though.

they rule. plus, your wife will love vacuuming so much, the house will be spotless. it's a two-fer....

Dyson needs to invent a BJ enticer....

I would recommend that anyone considering a Dyson go ahead and check the MIele and or Sebo. Those are 2 vacuums that will last you 20 years without any problems. Dyson is okay, but still not in the same quality league as the other 2.

LAt22... it is a vacuum... not a shop-vac!!

and I will agree with everyone else here.. we've had an "animal" for about 6-months... that thing is amazing.. it is a bit heavy, but otherwise works great..

I don't vacuum the wet spots on purpose. They're tough to see on the carpet.

We love our Dyson. Yes, it does make me vacuum more. Kind of strange, but when the vacuum doesn't emit the warm, stale dog smell that the bagged vacuum did, it makes me want to turn it on more. Works like a charm for us.

Would anyone recommend one for someone without pets?

We need a new vacuum and have heard great things about Dyson, but I don't want to spend the money if something else will work just as well in a non-animal house.

Also, how do you empty the canister without dust going everywhere?

Once you remove the canister from the unit, it has a release at the bottom for emptying. Very neat and clean.

Once you get spoiled by the Dyson, you won't want to settle for anything less. And you could always return it within a month.

If you want a cheaper alternative look at the Eureka Boss. About $100, will give you that same 'look at all that dirt!' reaction the first time you use it, and rated a best buy by consumer reports.

Dyson makes a unit that is a step down from the "Animal." It costs $100 less and works EXTREMELY well from what I have heard.

I received my Dyson today from online storeThe Link and I can NOT believe how much stuff it has picked up. I think I am in Love! I have to tell EVERYONE but am afraid to, what if they think I am dirty now LOL

I think that it's interesting that you were motivated to make your first ever hornfans post by a thread about vacuums.
