Some noise starting to come out of Belton, and Burton's agreeing with it, that Smythe is leaning toward choosing the tree come Friday. If true, hello Christian Morgan.

Been hearing the same. Wouldn't blame the kid at all for going that route. Stanford is a helluva school, so long as you're not interested in banging hot co-eds.

Putting myself in my 17-18 year old self's shoes, if I were offered a full ride to UT, my dream school were I ultimately graduaded, or a full ride to Stanford, man I would be up a night racking my brains. If I choose Stanford, I give up the dream. OTOH, if I choose UT, then I might regret passing up the opportunity to go to Stanford.

My prayer goes out for him for discerment on which of these great choices is the best for him.

It is tough to compete with Stanford:

1. Great academics.
2. Excellent coaching staff.
3. Great post-graduate professional connections among alumni - a Stanford degree places one "in the club."
4. Country club campus.
5. Nice weather year round.
6. Easy access to San Franciscio and the Sierras.
7. Good post-graduate employment opportunties.

Cons:

1. No college town atmosphere.
2. Shortage of good looking women on campus.

Not a tough decision for most.
