Durant calls out Phil Jackson for complaining about how many FT's he shoots. Says the refs give him too many calls. I think Phil forgot that Kobe Bryant plays on his own team. Durant does shoot alot of FT's but he earns most of them.
For a coach that had Jordan and Kobe as his stars complaining about pampering is laughable. Jackson has always been a douche that has engaged in this type of nonsense. It does nothing but arouse all the Nba ref conspiracies.
You gotta start getting preferential treatment sometime right? I think by winning the league scoring title Durant has earned that.
Of course I think its completely stupid that this should even be an issue. Call the game as it should be. I dont care who you are. Are there rules or arent there? Follow them damn it.
I have no problem with Jackson's comments. Trying to work over refs in the media is a part of NBA life. Contrary to Durant's feelings, I think Jackson respects the heck out of Durant and he wouldn't be making those comments if he wasn't concerned with Durant's potential to cause the Lakers fits.
Phil is a great coach but he has had his share of breaks from the officials over the years. Also he has been fortunate to have had the best players play for him from Jordon and Shack to Kobie. Now if he ever takes over a last place team and make them champions that will be impressive. He has been fortunate to always have had talent. He will never take over a last place team and make them champions.
The Lakers had Kobe and Shaq for 2 years before Phil Jackson arrived there. The first year the Lakers were swept by the Utah Jazz, the second year they were beaten in the second round by the Spurs.
Then Jackson was hired and he immediately produced 3 straight championships. Their "big" acquisitions were Brian Shaw, John Salley, Ron Harper, and A.C. Green, so it's not like he had more to work with than the previous coach.
Phil may be the best coach at managing talent and their egos. I doubt many, if any other coaches would have been able to produce results near his with those rosters.
Mind games? Definitely. A stroke of genius, not a chance. You have to be pretty fragile to be told you get favorable calls and now it makes you play worse or lose focus. Oh, so I get good calls and I'm a very good FT shooter...sweet!!! That's what I'm thinking if someone says that about me. Nothing offensive to me, I'm scoring on you any way they let me and I'm the champion of the league at it...try and stop it with something tangible besides your lip. And criticizing refs can be a nasty proposition. Just like a hitter bitching about a strike called...next marginal pitch he's getting a strike call 99 out of 100 times just to prove a point. Yeah, Zen Master really came up with a gem. Please.
Agree with the poster who says this actually shows that Phil respects KD's game. Besides, this is just part of his post season ritual: 1) wear most recent championship ring, 2) criticize officials, 3)...
Durant is just awesome! He dribbles down behind the 3-pt line and swishes. I promise...they are going to steal one...and as we speak, he flushes the dunk...and Thunder take the lead!!
Did they seriously just call that offensive foul on Durant under 2 minutes? This is why watching the NBA time and again just becomes a joke. Way to try and decide a close game once again on a totally piece of crap homer call.
Did they seriously just call that offensive foul on Durant under 2 minutes?

that was a terrible call. bodies collide like that on every play and you cant maker a call like that in close game in the playoffs. it may have cost okc the game. i hate the lakers. okc really needs a big guy but i think they can get 2 at home.
