Dump these Olympic Sports

I guess you haven't seen the Brazilian twins that are on the sync swim team.

Water polo is kind of slow, but it is a legitimate sport, so it's OK.

I'd rather keep synchronized diving over synchronized swimming; I was watching synch. diving a few minutes ago and watching the attention to detail was kind of interesting.

Keep these Olympic Sports:
-baseball
-softball

I still can't believe this is the last year for those two sports in the Olympics.

With baseball and softball, I suppose the rationale is that not enough countries participate? Does anyone know?

When watching a sport like Water Polo that at face value could be considered slow or boring I make sure to remember what is happening. I thnk of what P/C said and how strenuous it is, what the athletes are going through. Even the ones being still are treading water the whole time before they sprint off to do something.

Keeping that in mind makes it more fun and rewarding when the action heats up. I also watch away from the person with the ball. I watch people jockey for position and placement for a quick pass or to defend something. It is a fun game to play that I would NEVER try to play unless I can have the shallow end of a pool to stand in.

My point is water polo is boring to watch, I understand how hard it is on the players but it is like watching paint dry. To think they are thinking about adding lawn bowing and darts but killing baseball and softball.

Real Sports did a story on softball and baseball and the Olympics.

There is a push in both organizations to save them as far as the Olympics, but they are dealing with pretty severe anti-American sentiment.

Most of them see the removal of the sports as a backlash for America's war on terror and our foreign policy.

It sucks, but some folks in the rest of the world saw an opportunity to ax a sport that is known as uniquely American.

Hook 'em

Selig also won't suspend the MLB season so the world's best players don't get to play. If MLB players were there, they wouldn't cancel baseball.

Weightlifting needs to go and is the stupidest of all events. Water Polo is legit.

It also might be cool to add in more basketball events. I mean we get like 50 events each for swimming, diving, gymnastics, etc. Why not basketball? They should set up a 3 on 3 halfcourt tourney. And also maybe 1 on 1 or 3 point shooting.

What about judo and handball? I watched part of a women's handball game, and that has got to be the least interesting game in the universe.

^ This is a horrible idea.

If you do that why not add a homerun contest to baseball or a skills competition to hockey?

Water pole needs to be more like regular polo. Since they ride horses in polo they need to ride dolphins or something in water polo. That way rich people with names like Chauncey could play it

Dump ARchery, Shooting, EQuestrian, and Sailing. Add Golf, Ultimate Frisbee, and some sort of multiday adventure race.

First criteria: if it can't be measured, timed, or scored...ELIMINATE IT!

Judged events like synchro swimming & diving, equestrian/dressage, etc., gymnastics, ice skating (in winter).

Some of these require incredible athletic ability, no argument there, but I don't see them as a sport and the subjective nature of the competition is maddening.

btw...if they are going to include an animal in Olympic competition (i.e. horses) they might as well extend it to mutt frisbee catching, etc.

Rhythmic gymnastics is the biggest waste as an Olympic sport. Some girl rolls around on the ground with a large ball or a ribbon on a stick? Give me a break!

If that **** is an Olympic sport, why the hell isn't baton twirling? It's more challenging than a ribbon on a stick.

Speedwalking is about as stupid as rhythmic gymnastics, but at least speedwalking has a correlation in the different swimming styles, which also need to go IMO; it should all be freestyle.

How about this....don't watch the ones you don't like. The beauty of the Olympics is that their is something for everyone. I pretty sure it the Olympic games, not sports. I'm all about adding not subtracting.

With that said, if they are getting rid of baseball and softball because there are too many, then get rid of these first:

Archery
Modern pentathlon
Badminton
Rowing
BMX racing
Sailing
Canoeing
Shooting
Cycling
Synchronized swimming
Table tennis
Equestrian
Taekwondo
Tennis
Handball
Hockey field
Judo

I have to add to the list of most grueling sports is Boxing!!!

3 minutes last forever!!!!!! Not whether you like it or not, but have you ever boxed a round? Not to mention 3 or more?
