She went toe-to-toe with Coach Royal. Demanded equal funds, treatment, scholarships, etc. But here is what else she did, she held her programs to the same high standard Royal did. Maybe higher. She used to say, be top ten or find a new job.

When you have coaches like Elliot, Brackin, and Bev why are we letting the others turn in such poor performances? This falls directly on the shoulders of the AD.

Which leads into the next point, do we even have a women's AD anymore? Is Plonsky the AD or and Asst. AD to Dodds? It's like nobody is minding the shop.

Back when women's athletics matted (or rather winning mattered) Lopiano was THE AD. And it was clear who did the hiring. The current situation seems like a real step back.

This isn't a men vs. women thing. I said it on the Lone Star Showdown thread. It's a sport-by-sport thing, with track & field lacking the performance/recruiting to create Olympians like Sanya Richards Ross.

Men:
Baseball and swimming were the only championships. We had some individual success in tennis/golf, but not enough as a team.

Women:
Volleyball made it to the Final 4 (again!). Golf and rowing won conference. Swimming was 6th at NCAAs.

I'll have to go under the assumption that you're mainly concerned about the other "Big" women's sports: basketball, softball, and soccer. I'd argue that soccer is the only one that is not living up to the cash spent on it. The reason our basketball team tanked was because of the Cokie injury (it's basically the same as losing Colt McCoy in football), and softball is a game of such small measurements and momentum swings that anyone could lose a regional, no matter how highly you're ranked. The offense wasn't getting it done at the end of the season, but their tank job wasn't any worse than our men's basketball team.

It goes in cycles. Dollar Bill has done pretty well with the women at A&M, but that's not stopping us from regrouping and beating them at a lot of sports in the near future. If anything is the big problem, it's track.
