Dog recommendations

The image alone makes me laugh. But you get something close to the markings with a Burmese Mountain Dog. Gorgeous animal.

I am liking the Greyhound idea if they are mellow like the above poster says. No matter what you do, do it noble. Hit up the rescue organizations in town. Those doggies need good homes. I really want to get another dog, just have not gotten the moxie to do it yet.

Like 30 posts, and not one mention of a Boston Terrier ?

These dogs are awesome, you will not be sorry. And no, not all of them have the ugly bug-eyed quality.

Winner.

yes! the boston terrier wins!

my parents have one and he's amazing. doesn't shed, super smart, super nice. the only problem is that he gets a little crazy when new people come.

If I ever get another dog in the future, I can pretty much guarantee it will be a Golden.

My ladyfriend has one, and she lives in an apartment downtown (i.e. no yard, only gets to go outside a few times each day) and he is awesome even in that situation. I love that dog.

Your dog is gorgeous! What is his name? And bless you for saving his life.

All of your dogs are awesome and gorgeous and special and, and...you know, they just are.

He's awesome. His name's Max. It's not a name I'd pick, but he'd been answering to it for over 2 yeas so it seemed mean to change it.

I've also never seen a dog his color, in bright light it's pretty close to burnt orange.

No size guarentee on the pound puppies though. We adopted what we thought was a rottie/ lab mix-- supposed to be around 60 lbs. We think she's really Rottie/ Dane. She finally leveled out at 115. She's amazing though-- definatelty consider the pound puppy.

I'm a fan of big dogs, but I have to say that Mastiffs live very shortened lives compared to other dogs, and this is generally true of very large dogs (Great Danes, etc.). Just something to consider.

I also think that mixed breeds tend to be smarter and with fewer behavioral issues than purebreeds (dachsunds, beagles--ack!), and going to a shelter or rescue group is the right way to go, whether you ultimately go mutt or not.

chesapeake bay retriever

texas blue lacy

springer spaniel

bull terrier

belgian malinois - like a german shephard only smaller

i like larger dogs myself - great pyrnees, swiss mountain dog, newfoundland, cane corso.

for something a bit more unique, silver labradors are cool looking and have lab temperment.
