In the early 60s, our family friend Benny (H Y Benedict Jr to drop a name) took me and my wife to be (now over 50 yrs married) to the Hoffbrau-said it was the place to go.When I was a student, I would go the the Hoffbrau Steakhouse down on west 6th, and get the large sirloin steak, eat some and take the rest home. Had dinner for about 4 days! As I recall, it was really cheap compared to steak costs now.
The late 80s were peak Austin and I will fight you over that
“I’ll have a cheeseburger cut the cheese.”The GM Steakhouse #5 on the drag. In the mid 70's My buddy would go there every Thursday after class to have a steak.
