Allsome. The NEZ seating area looks complete and ready for the opener. The outside of the NEZ has a ways to go but looks like they shuold finish it by 8/31. I suspect the suites will be finished out and ready to be occupied in time for the opener... Belmont wants paying customers in those seats!

Thanks so very much.
It seems they ran out of seats, or they did not fit properly and had to special order ones to fit??????? Who knows. I bet they get finished.

Apparently I've been gone longer than I thought, but who is the statue to the right of DKR? I'm assuming that's DKR anyway. I get the feeling it's Jamail???

Thanks for the update!

Looks like most of the interior side is painted... beige walls and orange handrails. Most of the rear railing on the upper deck still needs to go in. Besides that and the missing seats, it's getting pretty close to done on the inside.

On the exterior facade, I like how much glass is being used. It keeps with the existing architecture but still looks very modern and new. I'm waiting for the old iron gate with the seal to be installed at the main entrance. Another good mix of old and new.

Great pics.

This may have already been explained, but what is the purpose of all those concrete structures/walls that run from tunnel to tunnel? We used them on the East side upper-deck, and now we've got them on the North endzone lower and upper decks. Could be just me, but all that (painted0 concrete walls and staircases sticks out, and it seems like it takes away hundreds of seats.

Thanks for the pics - looks great. Does anyone know if there are any plans at all to do anything to the west side exterior anytime soon? Maybe at least some beige stucco/paint on the exposed cement areas like there is at the top of the new sections to help tie it in - it's always been an eyesore, but now even moreso.

They will fill in the "missing" seats. Look closely, you can see that they have already installed the braces for the seats in those columns. I guess they just ran out of chairs.

A&M has an expansion plan for Kyle Field, Byrne said. Additions to the stadium are driven by demand, namely season ticket sales.

"We're still between 14,000 to 6,000 seats away from being sold out," Byrne said. "Once we sell out, we'll get more serious (about expanding)."

Kyle Field's expansion plans include replicating the Zone in the south end zone and connecting the decks of the stadium. The projected number of seats after expansion total 116,000, Byrne said.

"Plans" don't mean a whole lot. He had to come up with something to prove he was keeping up with the Joneses(us). You can pretty much never sell the rodeo arena out as it is, so you certainly don't have a need for more seats.

Hell, if it comes to it, Byrne can always just get out a sharpie and draw new lines like Groff did.

I made it a point to pay attention today to the brick difference in color. Indeed the North is lighter than the rest of the stadium. Not by too much but it is noticeable. It is not just in the pictures.

And work, the way most think of it, is not being done around the clock on the stadium. In fact, work is not really done after 4 or 5. There may be a few workers finishing up or making up for time lost due to rain that day but no, they are not working "around the clock" or 24/7.

There is a small crew by night working on things on what was and will again likely be the eastbound or uphill lanes of 23rd Street. They are doing the same type of work being done in front of the West Side of the stadium on San Jacinto.

They cannot do this (I assume it is to lay cable and power lines for the addition and improve on existing ones) during the day since that is when all the activity goes on. There are no more than six to eight guys there doing this. Hardly round the clock work as they are a small crew and don't have anything to do with the actual building, brick laying or goings on inside the stadium.

The lights are off in the construction area of the stadium. Things are really hopping during the day though. The brick is looking great! I feel guilty getting paid to watch it all day. No I don't. I feel about as guilty as I do having 3 months of paid time off a year.
