DKR South Endzone project information?

In order to complete the South "Full Bowl" project, won't they have to move the DKR and Joe Jamail statues that they just put in last year?

I'm thinkning the same thing. A lower deck in derect proportion to the north would be best. Adding seats for the sake of adding seats is not worthwhile or advisable. The bleachers will do for now, or nothing at all.

If I see an OU style add on I will **** myself.

i wonder how much it would cost to just do a lower deck north endzone style add on? we would not have to add classrooms etc......so presumably the foundation would not have to be as substantial (although still substantial enough to allow for a future upperdeck)...

For some reason my first thought was maybe a much smaller version of the 'Shoe's endzone, but then I thought how that wouldn't work at all with Godzillatron and sections 1 and 32 extending so far south. Thought it would look cooler than just a rectangle with seats.

I'm kind of sad all these additions are happening once I graduate. Oh well, here's to the continual improvement of an already badass stadium.

the school is apparently deciding to replace temporary bleachers with more solid, permanent ones plus add restrooms and concessions for added convenience (obviously their cost analysis showed that this would be profitable) and if i'm reading this thread correctly, some people will complain if its not bowled in to match the north end? we are absurd.

also, for those thinking this might be the first part of the south master plan, don't get too excited. for that, they have to tear down all or a portion of sections 1 and 32, plus i believe that the master plan includes demo on moncrief-newhaus and incorporating it into the new structure. that aint happening by 2009 or for 25 mil. finishing dkr may be left as mack's legacy as AD - and may well be named after him.

One good thing I can see... even if it's not part of the final SEZ plan... is that we're more likely to be seeing a consistent 100k in attendance.

Deloss had pegged the next year's official capacity with the NEZ at ~93k. With these new semi-permanent SEZ seats numbering between 4-6k (to be inline with what we've seen with the bleachers the last couple of years), that puts us at 97-99k official.

So yeah, for actual attendance we'll be at 100k+ for most every game.

yeah....seems like we should be good for about 103K minimum with the south endzone stands.....by 2009 we should be like #5 in the nation.

i do think our stadium is beautiful.

i seriously doubt it will be permanent....it is much more likely that they design an office for him somewhere that keeps a view for him....even if he has a couple of year gap.

Hell...they could turn one of Mack's office walls into a mini 'Godzillatron' and pump in live feeds 24/7. He'd be happy.
