DKR Construction

25 days from now....

So maybe someone previously posted and I didn't see it, will there be social distanced butts in those new end zone seats come the Sept. 12 opener?

Are we missing a game with LaTech?

16 days until the opener with the mighty UTEP Miners.

Is the South End-zone gonna be ready enough or finished?

The SEZ isn't scheduled to open fully until the 2021 season. That was always the plan. The only thing they needed to have in place for the beginning of 2020 was Godzillatron 2.0 and the ramp to the locker room.

Does anyone know if the "stair step" terraces they're building into the southeast and southwest stands are standing room only "seats" that will be sold or are they intended to be places for people who already have paid seats elsewhere in the stadium to go and hang out?

Yes, I can see the plaza platform structures going up on the west side. But I would venture they're also going in on the east side, they just haven't started that construction yet. At least I hope that's the case.

I like seeing the Tyvek/Rainscreen where they're about to install brick. It'll start to look more like a real building.

You have to assume the east side plaza platforms just aren't under construction yet. It'd be strange to not mirror there.

Do you have the sides mixed-up? The construction has been east to west due to extra foundation work that had to be done around the street. The east side has always been ahead of the west side.

That is some type of screening that they put up on the west end. They did not do that on the east. Probably to catch some type of spraying of the beams. If you look at the platform on the east side you will see the awning. That does not exist on the west side.

The "plaza" areas in between Section 1 and the SEZ and Section 32 and the SEZ have those platforms on which people will have SRO abilities and tables/etc. There's a big height difference between the general seating area and the new enclosed sections in the SEZ. You can clearly see the platforms next to Section 1, but they're not started yet next to Section 32.

steve0 had the post back on the 2nd page of this thread with the rendered image.

And the Plaza area on the east side already has the awning constructed. Not so on the west side.

We're talking about different things. In the live construction cam, check out the steel platforms popping out of Section 1 next to the addition. They haven't started framing those on the East side yet.

I'm getting the impression the stair-step terraces on the west side simply aren't going to be on the east side.
There are at least a few more asymmetries throughout the end zone. On the west side, there's a cutout in the first few rows, not on the east side. The platforms near the ends of the horns appear to be different sizes. And that's only what we can see for now.

It's bad enough that the SEZ doesn't match the rest of the stadium, but evidently it won't even match itself. DKR is going to look like a thrown-together mess.

I think when finished the SEZ will look like one unit. The differences now are the result of the west side needing more foundation work so that side is behind the east side.

Renderings show that there will be stair-step terraces on both the east and west sides. There's no reason they wouldn't build them on the east side as well - they just haven't started on them yet. Patience.

The "awning" on the east side is a cover for the broadcast area for the Longhorn Network game day setup. There will not be an equivalent on the west side.

I have heard that the ticket holders on the south end zone are going to get free super powered noise blockers to wear while sitting under the Godamitron so they can keep their eardrums intact while listening to all the commercials and the beautiful music. Official suppliers of super powerful noise blockers to the university of Texas. Official off road vehicle to the Texas Longhorns. Official leather wear sponsor for the Chap Girls. Official Diaper removal service for the whining Longhorn athletes. Official.................

Seems like a bad tradeoff to remove existing seats in sec 32 to install a 3 tier SRO plaza. The white structure is already adjacent to the entrance to the section.

Do they still have live cam on the construction site, and if so where can I go on Hornfans to view it? Also, is the reno going to be completed by kickoff in September?
