Dixie Chick Divorces

Maybe Jewel can't get braces, but it appears that she can get boob implants.

Funny (at least to me) story about the time I met Charlie Robison.

I was backstage at one of his concerts in houston ripped out of my mind b/c I was friends with a guy that was friends with him. I knew I was polluted so I was sitting down on a couch trying to mind my own business (My friend was trying to get him to go to Lake Charles with us after the concert).

Anyway, Robison sits down next to me, slaps me on the knee (as I'm more or less passed out) and asks me how I liked the concert.

I was like, dude- that concert was awesome, I love like almost all of your songs (my hometown, not the best but the best I can do, indianola etc)

He goes- Almost all my songs, you mean there's one you don't like- which one?

So I tell him that I don't like whatever song it was.

He then goes on to explain the song for like 10 minutes and talks about why he wrote it and his motivations and what it's all about.

I listen to him explain and tell him- no ****- I knew that's what it meant (he wasn't telling me anything profound) but the song still blows. He tries to convince me for another couple minutes that it doesn't, but unsuccessfully so.

Anyway, I end up leaving with another buddy and wake up the next morning face down in the lawn. Don't remember getting there but it was a fun concernt and he was really nice to me, even though in retrospect if I wasn't bombed I wouldn't have told him that I thought that one song of his sucked. Especially since it was a very enjoyable concert (but he is the one that brought it up- sort of).

This kind of sucks as far as the Robison Family Christmas shows go. Although, I don't know the last time Emily played at one of those shows.

Charlie ******* about Nashville, but he signed up for that first session as a judge on some kind of country American Idol show. Can't really have it both ways.

so they had 3 little chicks in 9 years. That rooster must have been getting up before dawn.

His guitar player, the one that looks like Andy Dick, came over to my house after a show at the Satellite Lounge. He was a nice guy but we kept making news radio jokes and calling him Andy Dick until he got mad and left. I think I was as drunk as the guy who pasted out in the yard above.

Unless the doc who did my LASIK was not worth a tinker's damn, I swear I see the "double bubble" sign, or the "ripple effect" in this photo from People magazine. No way those are real.

Getting back on topic,
Charlie is a Texas legend in my book. If you aren't country, then you probably won't understand his music. He and his brother are solid gold musicians and I look forward to seeing him again. Like the other OP said, and Charlie has said his self that once he got married, his song writing was not the same. I think he is going to be writing some good **** here shortly.

my sentiments exactly, danno. i'm a huge fan of the robison brothers. bruce may be the better writer, but i like charlie's shows a lot better.

Can't believe we have gotten this far without the fabled HF Jewel Haiku. Ahem.
