Director's Cup Standings (6/11)

But, but, they are a better sports school! Lucky for us it is not the Director's Wife's Cup. They, being a woman's school, would dominate us in that area.

19th in men's golf ships is nothing to sneeze at. that probably doesn't suck in regards to our directors cup standings

Way to go UT athletes, #5 is a good neighborhood to be in for this award

Mens golf 19th place should move us into 4th. UCLA will move into 2nd with 100 pts for mens golf. Too bad we dont have water polo or lax.

I like to see us in the top five in this race. Although, by our standards this academic year was not exactly great, we still managed to land in the top five. I know we take it for granted but what Texas does is actually rather remarkable. You can only score points in The Director's Cup if you sponsor the sport. Of the top five...Stanford has 36 sports, Michigan 27, OHowIHate 38, Penn State 29. Texas sponsors 20 sports so we have at least 7 and sometimes more than 15 less opportunities to score points. I love the fewer sports philosophy...lets spread our 100 million budget over 20 and be awesome...instead of having 38 sports and being just ok at half of them. hook'em horns.

sometimes, every now and again, i would like for us to throw money at a bunch of sports like water polo for a few years(assuming we could score points in these events in a short period of time due to lack of total teams participating) , win the cup, a couple of years in a row, flip stanford the bird, then go back to our regular sport schedule and tell stanford they can have it.

I remember us winning the director's cup some 20 years ago when we sucked at football. I'll take where we are now.
