Digital Cameras (SLR's): Any Advice?

I got the Nikon D40 at Wolf Camera. They had a great Mother's Day special - got a free bag and printer and $100 off a 55-200 VR lens.

Very happy with the D40. The memory card I got with it holds about 1,200 pics.

Is there much of a difference between the Canon Rebel XT and the Canon Rebel XTi? I know the XTi has 2 mega pixels more resolution and a bigger LCD screen, but for a novice, is the extra $200 worth it for the Xti?

RoundRobin,
Ken Rockwell (site linked above) calls the Nikon D60 a "sucker's camera" because it doesn't do much more than the D40 (his opinion).

I got the D40 and it does everything and more than I want. If you're going up from the D40 get the D70, imo. But you can't go wrong with the D40.

Question...
I got the Canon XSi for Christmas...

Love it..
But, one thing I haven't figured out yet...

When I use the FULL AUTO mode, it always uses the flash.

Is there a way to set it to auto and not use the flash?
