ESPN (via Scouts) Writeup on Johnson....
Johnson is an interesting kid. He is an impressive looking young prospect. He is a thickly built kid. Running around in his green uniform he looks like a miniature incredible Hulk. Right now he is a big strong kid who just tosses opponent%u2019s aside. He plays his game like he is a bouncer breaking up a fight. When he uses his hands he has the raw power to throw a blocker aside. Usually when he slams into a blocker he will knock him down. Displays a good get-off. Has a good motor and will run to the ball. He is a solid tackler. While he impresses you with his physical tools and toughness he is still pretty raw. Johnson needs to watch his pad level. He is a powerful force, but needs to play lower as he quickly raises his pads. Would also like to see him be more consistent with his hands and shoot them more regularly. He is tough when he uses his weapons, but will keep his hands in and allow a blocker to get into his chest. At the college level the blockers will be in his size range and not as easily be moved aside with poor technique. He has solid straight line speed, but needs to improve his angles of pursuit. As a pass rusher he can bull rush and collapse the pocket. He plays end in high school and gets some clean rushes off the edge, but in college as an interior player he will need to fire out lower and work to develop some moves using his hands. He can though cause some problems with his natural ability to charge ahead. Johnson will be an interesting kid to watch. He is tough and powerful. Needs to improve his overall flexibility, but he could be a presence at defensive tackle which is tough to run at and also tough to slow down. He needs to clean some things up as he can be a good college defensive tackle or just a big strong kid who can mix things up. Promising player with interesting upside.
