Ralph Peters "nails it" in the sense that to a hammer everything looks like a nail. His discussion is near idiotic, which is what one would expect from a strategic thinking geek for that cable network. A new Persian Empire with nukes!!! Yep, I see Xerxes leading his hordes into Greece next week. The Iranians are led by a pack of religious nuts who make our apocolyptic christians look relatively sane. Even a looney Netanyahu, attempting to recreate a religious nation in the desert out of the remains of a bunch of european jews looks sane compared to them.
But a threat to us? Our own intelligence agencies say they aren't building a nuclear weapons program and if they did, all it does is give them a veto over anybody invading them. If they launch a nuke on anybody they get a few hundred coming in from Israel or a few thousand from us. Peters is a nutcase and has been for as long as I remember hearing his cackling. Seriously, read some decent quarterlies from people who know something about the area as opposed to some carnival barker for a network that makes a living out of scaring people in order to sell its advertisers' products.
And for the poster who referred to Menendez as a Republican, no, he's a democrat and a lapdog for AIPAC, which, considering where he is from, is a safe position to assume.
