There was some talk leading into Saturday that he may pull the trigger. Just curious if anyone has an update on how Cobbs' visit went yesterday.

Just from reading his comments it is a shame he didn't get to come and check things out.

I'm sure there will be room for him if he is as good as everyone says.

The playmaker had been waiting for an offer from USC, which was recently extended. After taking the family considerations, along with the obvious athletic ones, into his decision-making process, Cobbs says USC is now his favorite.
The Link

I don't know how reliable the source is but I hope Cobbs isn't getting caught up in the USC hype. We'll see were we stand after he visits us next month.

If we get Darius White, it doesn't really matter anymore. Love to have him still but we don't really have the spots after White.

Nice get. This is a great class for WR. We now have three commits at the position with a 5.8 or higher on Rivals. We jumped into the DeAndrew White bid late and this makes up for not getting him. I think that with his committment, that is likely the last sign that we needed to know that Darius White is heading to the unholy land.

What about Cobbs and White together?
Unless you happen to have 2 ***** corners, somebody's getting open for GG.
________________ _______________________________________________ Lets not get that carried away with recruit rankings. As I look back we've signed 12 4or5 star wrs beginning with the Shipley class. Life happens and some disappeared. About half of them did or have contributed, thus far only 2 (Quan-Shipley) would merit this kind of remark. I'll also add the same would hold true most likely for the 2 5* corners to cover them... I do realize the statement was partially in jest and I am elated that UT has a commitment from another player that looks like the real deal

Depot, those things have a way of taking care of themselves around here. If his head's on straight, he has a chance to play for one of the premier programs in the country. If not, well...there are plenty of junior colleges out there. It's up to Cobbs to determine how serious his commitment is. If he backs out of this one, UT's in his rear view mirror. I choose to believe him.

I am not insinuating that we do not want Darius White. However, he had been cool to us for awhile now and it appears that Shipp and Stoops have him all but wrapped up. From what I have read it is between OU and SC for DWhite. The fact that we have signed our third 4 star/5.8 point WR for 2010 indicates that we are likely not counting on Darius White. I am pretty sure that we stopped counting on him when we offered DeAndrew White last month. UT does not make offers this late typically and it was generally seen as a reaction to the fact that we had lost out on Darius White. Well, not surprising we were not able to reel in DeAndrew White with as little time as we recruited him and he went to Bama. But then Cobbs just up and falls into our lap! Note, Mack does not like to take decommits from another school often and Cobbs was verbal to Tennessee. To me, that is even more of an indicator that Mack knows Darius White is done and he needs to grab what he can at WR and Cobbs is pretty damn good. He apparently hates OU with the white hot passion of 1,000 suns. He should fit in nicely.

In the spirit of interstate co-operation, we have agreed to a prisoner exchange program, where UT will return all its recruits from Oklahoma for all of OU's Texan hostages. That should end all of OU Engineer's angst.

What happened?

I mean, Texas got a commit from Cobbs? Is that right?

Sorry to be obstuse.

Cobbs to Texas? Is that what this thread is now about?

*****

Well, okay, yea. Great. Looked around and Cobbs to Texas.

So where does Texas play Cobbs.

WR? LB? TE?

Anybody have the real story on why Cobbs (allegedly) dislikes zero-u so much? (Okay...que the response "because ou sux"...but I'd just like to know...did they insult him or someone in his family, or does he just have a built in hate for crimson and cream?)

I believe that Bob Stoops not only brought the wrong movie to watch with him and his family but that he over touched, er, groped the female members of the household. He kept muttering, "I need a hug, just a hug, please?" It got annoying and downright creepy in a way that only Big Game Bob could achieve.

My early guess: Running back. Fills an immediate need, and he's a versatile, speedy guy who's big enough to pick up s block in the backfield; fast enough to hit the corner; strong enough to shake off the chaff in the middle on handoffs, and fluid and sure-handed enough to come out of the backfield for some grabs. Maybe even do some wildcat-type work a QB as a change of pace from GG. The guy we were hoping for when we recruited Chiles.

He could be our McFadden, or our Crabree. Unless he goes D, in which case he'd be a good sub for Dixon.

Not strictly QB, and certainly not a prototypical WR.

I'm excited he'll be a horn.

can't see how he would fill an 'immediate need' at RB.

As a true frosh, he would be behind Whittaker (Jr), McGee (Sr), Johnson (Jr), Newton (Soph) and maybe more. I think there's a better chance of him filling one of the WR slots, wildhorn package, and ST.

Isn't he a natural for the Mad Cow, er, Wildhorn formation? Other schools make big yards off this formation, this may be our ticket to make the thing really work.

from what i understand, there isn't really a hate, just doesn't want to go to OU. he is not rooted in OK, and wants a different experience. to my knowledge, he has never said anything publicly to bash OU or our recruiting process, he's just not that interested.

again, i could be wrong, but i have read nothing other than insuation.
