Watching these guys from game one and then yesterday i see with CAUTIOUS optimisim a group that is starting to gel. Showing confidence in there play. Have gotten out of the THINKING mode and gone in to laying the pine mode. Even the relievers were playing lights out showing very little let down from the starters. By the end of this year this could be a very scary good defensive crew. Ranking right up there with the best we have ever had on the forty acres. I know that may seem like a stretch but just my opinon. Not looking over CU im feeling much better today about our chances in Dallas.

It's going to be interesting to see how we handle Colorado's passing game. Bradford and OU are in a class well above CU's passing offense but it will give us an indication of the level of DB play from our youngsters.

One problem on defense that I've seen is covering RBs coming out of the backfield. I'd like to see a big improvement against that next weekend at CU before we get deeper into BIG12 season.

I think the RB out of the backfield is going to have his receptions. Due to the advent of the spread offense. In my opinon that says our secondary and pass rush are both doing there job meaning the QB has to go to his outlet receiver. Once the field gets shorter it tightens up leaving the Qb without that dump off luxury. I may be wrong here but just my observation.

I share that optimistic sentiment as well but I have a few pauses for hesitation.

I think our D-Line looks great in getting our hands up when a ball is thrown (what a concept) and also having a pass rush. That being said Arkansas's line is like ASU's last year, awful.

Arkansas has given up a lot of sacks on the year due to a pitiful O-Line and a new offensive scheme. Dick is holding the ball longer because he doesn't seem entirely comfortable in the offense yet, same can be said with the O-line.

All that being said, we look ferocious up front playing with some fire and intensity I haven't seen in a long while.
