Curious if the people doing this were the season ticket holders or people who bought the seats from season ticket holders. My suspicion is that most season holders are also the most likely to be gracious to our guests. Trolls who come to one game and make asses of themselves might be a little embarrassed to act like that 5-6 times/year in the stadium.

Hell, I still mourn the passing of the old HEB five dollar north end zone tickets you could get several years ago. That was the best deal in town, despite the fact that the Horns weren't all that good at the time.

I see this reference to $5 HEB tickets all the time. The $5 part is right, but it was Randall's that sold the $5 "Stampede Zone" tickets. HEB never had them the time while I was there. The last couple of years of the program, they actually went up to $10. I am not sure, but I think this was Ricky's last two seasons. His Heisman year was definitely up to $10. The number of games that the Stampede Zone" was available varied depending on the opponent, as well as the size of the zone. If I recall correctly, they went on sale the Thursday before the game.

I am going to have to see if I can dig up any old Randall's SZ tickets and scan 'em for posterity's sake. I miss being able to get tickets for that price, but I am glad success rendered this program unneccessary. It seems to have been replaced by $25 tickets sold by the Athletics office to cover returned visitors' tickets. The SZ was a great inexpensive way to bring an entire family and share in the 'Horns experience.

I believe it was 1988. My wife,son, and I bought end zone tickets for a TOTAL of $15 bucks. We moved @ halftime to the chair back seats.
