Texags is probably the best or one of the best-built alumni/college community sites. The problem is that the general football board is open to anyone, and the public can read it. The site has grown so much that regulating the garbage on the general Football board, which we call "The Zoo" because of the nonsense/circus atmosphere, has gotten quite difficult. The Maroon and White discussion is actually quite rational, positive and intelligent, but few outside the A&M community want to pay for that board (we have only one Sooner spy that I know of).

Thus, the ones with more football/basketball knowledge and insight stay on that board and off the Zoo and other general boards, whereas on this site everyone goes to the general football and basketball board.

So, you can't take the garbage from the Zoo as the general impression of the A&M community.

Believe it or not, some of them are actually capable of engaging in rational, open discourse (as opposed to passionate, ovine intercourse). They probably get tired of the groupthink circle-jerk mentality that dominates aggy boards, where anyone who doesn't tow the junk-grabbing party line is quickly shouted down by self-appointed thought police until the offending post is ultimately deleted by brown shirt-wearing Kevin Bacon look-a-like moderators running to-and-fro yelling "all is well!"

They are, to coin a phrase, strangers from a strange land; refugees from a maroon alien nation whom we should welcome with at least a modicum of the very same open-mindedness and rationalism that drew them from the shadows of lurkdom into the light of HornFans posterhood.



So you're saying they are here looking for substance.
