Please pray for my daughter, who has major depression. It is very difficult for her to see anything good in her life, and she no longer has her boyfriend of 3 years (which has added to her depression). She is a very bright, beautiful girl, and really needs yours prayers right now. She is getting the help she needs.

Thank you for your prayers. at this time, she is doing great, but everyday is a different day. Anyone out there suffer from depression?

There are so many that have this it is extraordinary. Some statistic I saw said that most people may have a depressive episode some time in there life.
There is hope
and treatment.

Surround her with friends and family and love.

Have her receive counseling and medical care, including medication if prescribed.

Exercise (walking 20+ minutes is excellent).

It can be managed. Some completely overcome it.

My prayers, and support are with you.

I will pray for her. I get depressed at times... I hide it very well. My life can be a bit stressful and that adds to it. I have a spouse that pressures me to move away 1200 miles from the State I love, 98% of our family is in Texas and I am happy here. He is not and makes me meserible cause he acts so pissed all the time... It's ruff but positive support from loved ones really helps.. I took medication once.. maybe that can help your daughter..

As someone stated above, I also believe depression hits everyone at one time or another -- it is how to overcome it that is hard -- people who don't know that much about it or that are mentally strong have no idea how debilitating it can be. It is important that she get help -- prescription and counseling -- also, you needs to keep very busy -- this is very important -- keep the mind occupied and around good, happy people as much as possible. Go to church -- or watch Joel Olsteen on TV. He is a minister in Houston, but his stories always relate to people with depression, in bad relationships, etc. and turns every situation into a good one. You will get alot from just listening to him. I promise.

you know this may sound silly, but a pet can really help. even if it is as simple as a fish.

Also, if she is looking for encouragement in life, any book by Max Lucado is awesome. He is a christian, but the kind of christian that is just about encouraging others.

You and your daughter are definitely in my prayers. Take of yourself too, i know it is just as hard on you right now watching her suffer.

we have a pet, and she really loves her alot. I can't tell you how hard it is to watch her suffer sometime -- as a mom, to see her crying ( i mean crying hard) and asking me why she is like this, is extremely difficult. I talk and talk to her but it's like she can't see a light at the end of the tunnel. I know depression does this.
She always ask why god won't help her because she prays all the time. But I have come to realize that god is there to help her, but she has to find the innerstrength to start on her own and than God will be there to walk her through the rest. Just keep praying for us -- I know in my heart she will get better.
