Damion's decision to stay

elface I think you nailed it. I'd even argue it'd be very nice to have AJ but losing him won't matter that much. His scoring would be very welcome but I think the combination of JB's offense and the defense of Balbay, Ward, and Mason can balance out AJ's offense.

Personally I'd rather be the team that wins by holding opponents to 39% FGs rather then scoring 95 pts. We are gonna be fierce on the inside on D as well.

And for the umpteenth time, I remind everyone that Brad Buckman was shot blocker on a par with Aldridge. He averaged .0629 blocks per minute on the floor, better than Aldridge's .0605.

Of course, that guy named Atchley is at .0756.

Well, I think he could move up to being a lottery pick, so at least, what? Eight? Nine? How many lottery picks are there?

Of course I would not have put Buckman under the basket, if Aldridge is available. I'm just saying Buckman's shot blocking ability was always underappreciated and Aldridge's was overstated. Aldridge was never in the Mihm/Owens category as a shot blocker.

Atchley isn't in that category either, but he is maybe the best Texas has had in that role since those two.

There certainly isn't a front-runner to win the conference next season. Kansas and UT will be interesting situations to watch. Then you've got aTm and darkhorses Baylor and OSU, who has as much talent as anyone. I think Baylor fans are eager to see Anthony Jones and JUCO All-American PF Archie Valov and how they will help us in the post. Another thing that I think will surprise folks is Lace Dunn, now that he's healthy. He played 3/4 of last season on a bum knee. If he can stay healthy, he will have a shot to be 1st Team All-Big 12 with Jerrells. Should be an interesting year in the Big 12 to say the least.

Worst decisions to turn pro:
1) AJ- will NEVER get drafted.
2) CJ Miles- could have come to UT for a year or two and been a 1st round pick.
3) PJ- no longer in the league

I think Damion made a great decision to stay, but for diferent reasons than most of you. When I watch NBA games I don't see any Damion James type of players out there. He's a tweener, without handles and without a consistant 3. Not a good combination.

I actually don't think he will be a 1st rounder next season unless he improves a lot.

I love him as a horn, same as AJ and PJ, but just like them I'm not sold on him as an NBA player.

Again, PJ's decision was bad only if he would have improved his draft position or his NBA skills by returning. The chances of either of those things happening were pretty small, especially the former.

I know there isn't necessarily Joe Alexander hate going on here perse...but this is quite amusing. Alexander was absolutely fantastic coming down the stretch at WVU. then he goes to workouts and is jumping out of the freaking gym. draft nerds are going ape **** about him and for apparently good cause.

moreover, he is skilled with the ball and has an array of offensive moves. comparing Damion James to him right now is not fair.

I love Damion and I am stoked that he's coming back. but right now, he reminds me of Rodney Carney in a SF body instead of a SG. he can spot up for a J and he can throw down in exciting fashion. but he need to work on creating his own shot and putting the ball on the floor.

he made the right decision to come back.

the terrific thing for Damion is that he has the necessary physical attributes to play in the league. he can acquire the skill set he needs to improve his NBA stock. this is not true of many of the "bad decision" early entrees that are described above.
