Dalton Santos

nope. no love anymore.

had texas not come in with an offer, i think santos would have been an aggie, but once the horn offer was on the table it was over.

i think he's a bit of a project, but i think he can be a good player.

i know i know. but i would have said he's a project either way even if he signed with us.

he's already at 250+ as a senior in HS. does he have the frame to put on more weight to become a DE? is the weight healthy enough to where he can just get plugged in?

interestingly, when he decommitted from oklahoma state, he indicated that he wanted to play more/his skills would be better suited for a non spread league.

make no mistake--he's a talented guy and i think texas got a good one. but i dont see him as being ready to play from day 1. i think he could benefit from a RS year and direction from your S&C coach.

agree. and sadly i've kind of become one of those people that does that.

now that 2012 is almost over, i'm trying to figure out which 2013 unattainable recruit i'll get heartbroken over losing to the horns. this year it was malcolm brown.

There's quite a bit of Texas bashing on the Volnation website on the recruiting forum (the thread about Santos). Unfortunately, I don't have the ability to post on the site while in school.

According to them, he needs to come to the SEC where they put players in the NFL. Yep, the same NFL that currently has 40-something Longhorns (more than TN). Also, we're cocky (duh) and we all wish we were the real UT.

Yep...an awful lot of us are sittin' around here wishing we were fans of the fake orange...

I'm pretty sure nobody's happy when a recruit jilts their favorite school for someone else, but hey, Tennessee, show a little class.

We weren't happy to lose Westerman to Auburn last year, or Thomas Johnson to wherever he winds up this year, but you see very little whining going on on the UT boards. (#$)it happens...deal with it.

Recruits switch and go different places all the time. The only time I ever get angry is if it's a Perilloux situation or if something shady (i.e. pay, street agent) is going on. In the case of Santos, he just got offered by his favorite school. I doubt very much that they'd care if a guy in East Tennessee switched from Texas to TN if TN offered late.

The personal attacks on him, his father and his girlfriend and, to a less important extent, Texas kind of piss me off.

Based on what you guys are saying on this thread he sounds like a Brian Robison or Henry Melton vs. a Steve Edmunds.

Picking up on a tangent above, Dat Nguyen is one of my favorite players of all time. He hits my trifecta of "awesome player", "johnny hustle" and "overcomes perceived stature limitations and know-it-all combine idiots to succeed in the NFL." Basically the Drew Brees of LBs.

5'9" and 230 and not only was arguably the best LB in America in college, but had a long and successful career in the NFL.

As for Dalton, hope we get him, and welcome aboard if so.
