DPD has had this capability for a long time. Many PDs have. They also already have an "ROE" Rules of Engagement based upon the capabilities and limitation of this device.
The wails which have been made and are alluded in the early npr article leap from this instance to drones flying overhead killing people ... the wailing has no regard for the process of command and control.
