Cowboys' PSL Sales Presentation

For the record, they are closing the wal-mart to make way for additional parking.

I seriously doubt Walmart will close a store for jerry. a walmart store is too valuable to be bought either.

Doubtful as you may think it is, I have been in that wal-mart and had the manager tell me to my face they are closing before 2009- they just dont know the exact date yet.

Arlington resident and booster, here, so I'm pretty sure I read the FW-ST more than Longhorn Lawyer (safe bet, LL?). Sad to note that Glorypark development is delayed a year. I'm sure the weakening economy is the main reason, but I am sure ready for the project to get going.

"He was confused, but he was thinking of "Seven Seas", a SeaWorld wannabe back in the 70s that was adjacent to what is now the Marriot Hotel."

Yep, my error. Good catch. I wouldn't have come up w/ Seven Seas in a million years.

Actually, Taylor, I check the Startlegram website every day. I would get my Metroplex news chiefly from the DMN, but both the paper and interwebs versions of the DMN suck so badly that's impossible.

Seriously--I can feel myself getting stupider every time I open the Morning News.

From WSJ today:

Delay of Game

The Dallas Cowboys intend to play their home games in the 2009 season in a $1.1 billion stadium under construction in Arlington, Texas. But the $550 million first phase of the neighboring Glorypark, a development of shops, offices and apartments, won't arrive in time for kickoff.

Joint-venture partners Steiner + Associates and Hicks Holdings LLC have pushed back the 65-acre project's opening date to March 2010 from the fall of 2009. The reason: financing, of course.

With the credit markets going haywire, lenders have required larger repayment guarantees than anticipated, and the equity contribution required for the deal increased to 25% from the original 20%, Steiner President Barry Rosenberg said. It also has taken longer than expected for Steiner, Hicks, the city and lead lender Bank of America Corp. to get documents for Glorypark's $135 million in public bonds organized and sent to the Texas attorney general for review.

The bond review for the attorney general was required by the city despite not being legally necessary. It was prudent on the part of the City, but it did delay obtaining the financing.

They are NOT designed to be great places to watch a football game. And they aren't.

Actually, the club level at reliant is a great place to watch a game, the upper deck there even has great seats...

There's a lot to like about this stadium, as I think I indicated in the original post. But parking isn't one of them. And saying "Texas Stadium sucks too," when we all agree that Texas Stadium sucks, isn't much of a defense.

And it's a shame, too, when you look around the NFL and even around this area to see what could have been done to deal with the parking problem. I just don't understand why Jerry didn't address one of the primary complaints about Texas Stadium (i.e., parking) when he decided to build a new stadium.
