I was there in '83 also. I thought Simmons was next Eric Dickerson. Except for his injury, and his drug abuse, he might have been as good as Dickerson.

Yeah, if IIRC Simmons' knees had some kind of degenerative condition that was only going to get worse over time. It also made him more injury prone. Sad because his future looked very bright that day in 1983 versus ou.
