Could Alabama Be TCU 2.0? (I hope not.)

Especially on Young’s scramble when the LT grabbed our DE allowing Yoing to set up the winning FG.
Even the Mid TN highlights showed Bama players grabbing and pulling jerseys. If they don't call it when it doesn't matter it certainly won't be called playing Texas. I wouldn't be surprised if Satan is telling then to hold.

Just like ou's philosophy - they are not going to call holding on every play, so hold on every play, and eventually the refs will let it go.

As we all know, to have a shot, the OL and QE must show up. We talk about Sark, but what about Flood? He has the Big Humans he wanted, and the starting five that returned. (Yes, they may substitute Neto at LG. I do not expect to see Campbell starting at RG. Too many mistakes last Saturday.)

So to me, this is as much a test for Flood as it is for Sark. Are the accolades deserved? If Flood’s unit shows up and can hold their own Saturday, I think our chances improve considerably.

I think it's just as important to disrupt and make the new Bama QB as uncomfortable as possible.

That was rough but missing that sort of holding is pretty routine. What I felt really killed us was 1) not calling the safety when Young's thigh was down in the endzone before throwing the pass and 2) missing the facemask on 3rd down where we kicked a FG instead of getting a 1st and goal.

A defense can shut down a run-centered offense easier than shutting down a big play offense that the Horns have this year.

Maybe so, but the reason TCU shut down our running game last year was that they didn't have to worry about the deep ball. They brought the LBs and safeties up to make sure they were ready to stop Bijan, wagering (correctly) that we couldn't make them pay for it over the top.

And herein lies my concern about Saturday. How in the world did TCU “completely shut us down” last year? This, with the best running back in college football. While the OL wasn’t stellar, it wasn’t chopped liver either. And Quinn wasn’t fabulous as well, but he was probably adequate. Additionally, we do have more elite weapons this year than last.

So how did TCU do it? It has to be scheme versus play-calling. TCU out schemed us, and we were not able to adjust.

I sure hope that Sark learned from that experience and has evolved. We will know soon enough.
