Maybe we'll know next week. Joseph had previously said he was going to wait until after the season (including the invitational tournaments and all-star games), sit down with his family, and make his decision then.
Local radio guys (Las Vegas) said the Findley Prep connection was key. They also lamented UNLV having to compete with Texas - "Austin is a great city". They also thought that Villanova was probably #2, with UNLV #3.
I'm exceedingly happy about Joseph deciding to come to Texas, but everyone needs to remember he will be a first year player. Everyone also needs to realize he has in the past been more of a combo guard than straight point guard, so if you are looking for the blazingly quick ball handler able to beat any defense with penetration like TJ, this isn't that guy. He is going to need screens, so the work is cut out for Barnes to get the team working better to create offense.
There are significant talents to use, of course, but someone, if not everyone, is going to have to work a lot harder at moving without the ball. Anyone in the front court who manages to channel Atchley's junior season and becomes hugely effective at perimeter screen/step back spot shooter will likely win a lot of minutes.
Good thing he'll only be playing players from his draft class and those not good enough to leave early then. Next year will be Rose's 3rd in the league, right?
