Coronavirus

The testing is too late. We diddled calling it a hoax for 7 weeks. South Korea was aggressive with testing on the front line and then was able to do contact tracing. That ship sailed here a while back.
Actually, Trump issued a travel ban the day after the WHO called it a pandemnic emergency, and was widely panned as a xenophobe by the Democrats for doing so.

A Laredo ER spent $500,000 on coronavirus tests. Health officials say they’re unreliable.

It's a bitter example of what can go wrong when local governments try to buy supplies on the open market from unknown manufacturers.

Critics say the FDA isn’t keeping up with a growing number of international manufacturers peddling kits in online emporiums, sometimes claiming FDA authorizations that don’t exist.

Today, Laredo, a city of 260,000 on the banks of the Rio Grande, faces a much more dire coronavirus situation than it did a week ago when the tests arrived.

As the kits sat unused, six Laredoans died of COVID-19 over seven days, giving the city one of the highest per capita death rates in the state.
Dumbass before checking the tests:
Longtime U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Laredo, who helped facilitate the arrival of the tests, smiled broadly as he carried boxes of them inside the clinic.

Dumbass after checking the tests:
Cuellar refused to answer questions this week from ProPublica and The Texas Tribune about his role in the procurement of the tests or their FDA status, issuing a statement thanking federal authorities for seizing the tests.

Because the covid treatment doesn’t work. Any success stories are anecdotal at best. And people are taking it “preventatively”. There are some serious potential side effects.
So there are only side effects to coronavirus patients?
How many are taking it preventatively? How many are trying to survive?
If you're dying and don't have time to wait for a full vetting of the drug for 18 months, is an anecdote good enough for you?

This was you 18 days ago. I assume you altered your "models."

Only that at the time I said that, I was under the assumption that the numbers coming out of China were real. They fake flattened their numbers to justify restarting their economy.

We are going to have to do the same thing or the whole world is going to be thrown into a major depression that will take 10 years to recover from.

Where were the testing kits being stored for this new virus while we diddled?
The WHO had a test kit designed by the Germans that worked. I think South Korea used it. We declined to use it then tried to build our own. We screwed up the first draft and had to go back to the drawing board. America First! Ironically, it seems Trump tried to buy the German company after he realized that this was actually not a hoax.

There is no way to prevent liberals from placing all blame on Trump. He has made some missteps and stated things wrong. All POTUS’s have made mistakes while handling major catastrophes, wars and economic challenges. Few if any have faced a crisis like this and I think overall Trump has handled well given all the sideshow hysteria by the press and liberals.

Can you site a credible source?

Even the left wing Polifact says that's BS. PolitiFact - Biden falsely says Trump administration rejected WHO coronavirus test kits (that were never offered)

WSJ liberal rag posted on Matt Drudge commie site. Lulz.

A rapid test for the new coronavirus that was touted by the White House as a game-changing development has proved vexing for state officials, who say the federal government has failed to provide enough necessary equipment.

“It’s incredibly frustrating,” said New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, whose state got 15 of Abbott Laboratories ’ testing machines for Covid-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus—and cartridges to conduct only about 100 tests. Mr. Sununu, speaking at a news conference, said most of the machines would sit idle until he could figure out how to get more of the cartridges, one of which is needed to complete each test.

“There was a lot of hype on this nationally,” the Republican said. “To have 13 of these devices and no way to use them—I’m banging my head against the wall.”

It is too bad every aspect of controlling this pandemic can't go perfectly and at the right time as planned.
But if people can be realistic and honest what HAS been done is nothing short of amazing.
Instead of posting gotchas maybe step back and consider the mind blowing complexities of every facet and admit all the people trying to conquer this and get our country going again are amazing even when mistakes happen.
I would guess people who nitpick are people who have never run a business or had to manage a large project.

The back and forth on who’s at fault is theater. The virus is a huge political football and both Trump and his Democrat/media opponents will hold no bars in absolving themselves of blame while blaming their political opponent. The fact is our infrastructure wasn’t prepared, we began to respond after the fact, and neither side sounded alarms when it might’ve made a difference.

Within the Trump administration, the medical advisers want a shutdown to relieve demand on the medical system. But economic advisers understand the trillions of dollars that are evaporating with the shutdown. There are political costs associated with whatever decisions get made. As it is a no win situation for Trump, Democrats will exploit the aftermath of whichever road is taken.

Do you have a credible source for this ?

Bubba knows this is false, as well as his reference to obtaining test kits from Germany. He has already admitted as much on this board. Why he would try to try the same lie again would be perplexing if you were dealing with someone other than a Sooner.

Most doctors on the frontline of this pandemic say it does work. Doctors in the bureaucracy who don't want a cheap alternative to the upcoming expensive vaccine say it doesn't. History won't be kind to those folks. Yes, chloroquine has serious side effects. Hydroxycholoquine has much milder side effects and is the one being used more often against Covid-19 because it also seems more effective than chloroquine.

Essential vs non-essential business designation is stupid. Shut downs should be based on likelihood of transmission and whether the business can operate with proper distancing and other safety measures.

Heard a German scientist on a podcast. She did not answer affirmatively that this had taken place. It was more of a “I can not confirm that an offer was made to purchase our company”. I infer Those to be non-denial denials.

the German firm was the one that made the test that the WHO utilized.

I learned this week that Tulsa has 6 times more ICU beds per capita than dies NYC.

Fauci seems to think it is dubious. I bet that when the dust settles trump will have some financial link to the company.
