Our office was fully open from August 2020 though folks were not mandated to return until April 2021. Only covid transmission we had in the office during that time was when folks violated spacing in meeting rooms. This occurred 2-3 times. I suspect our office was >90% vaccinated by April 2021 (since corporate employees are on average >40 in age and the younger ones have kids in daycare which encouraged parent vaccination). My large company is opening up but they want us to wear masks in conference rooms and have given cryptic instructions around general mask use. I'm not going in.
So Mrs. Deez and I have tested positive for Covid. Mild symptoms so far - runny nose, a little muscle soreness, fatigue, and low-grade fever. She is a little worse off and was symptomatic a few days earlier. She lost her sense of taste. Since I assume that is coming my way, the first thing I did upon testing positive was to go pour a beer. I'm not going to waste the sense of taste I have now if it'll be gone in a day or two.
By the way, the NHS can go f**khead itself. Our local surgery (doctor's office) has been crap about dealing with any medical issue we've had. (We've had to go with private care at great expense for any meaningful care.) However, Mrs. Deez had an appointment last week, and we've since found out that two of the doctors there have Covid. So they can't give medical care worth a crap, but they can spread Covid to people. Friggin' incompetent hacks. I really don't understand why Brits like it so much. I understand that it's "free," but they really suck. Even if you don't want the American system, the German system (which is mostly government funded but privately administered) was eons better.
Mr D
I can't imagine the frustration of being in another country, even if it is England, and trying to get better care.
Hope you both are feeling better
Has Deez Jr gotten it?
I honestly think you and I would get along pretty damn well if we ever met. But seriously, all of you get well soon!the first thing I did upon testing positive was to go pour a beer. I'm not going to waste the sense of taste I have now if it'll be gone in a day or two.
We don’t have the right emoticon to convey “hang in there”.Honestly in Germany it was fine. There are a ton of providers. The quality of care is at least comparable to the US at a fraction of the cost. Frankly, health insurance could save a fortune by offering to fly patients first class to Germany for surgeries.
He has it too, and thanks.
Tangentially related, but I don't think it conveys our precise emotions...We don’t have the right emoticon to convey “hang in there”.

Did your GP suggest you take the antiviral pills from Pfizer? Do they have them available? They cut the severity of your illness significantly.
Wow, if I remember correctly you are vaxxed right Deez? Hopefully it will be mild, sorry about the loss of taste, that would suck. I lost sense of smell awhile back but from some nasty sinus stuff not Covid unless I got it a second time but wasn’t tested. Doc said wasnt Covid but really what do they know. How are you treating it, or rather the Docs treating it?
Hope y'all beat it fast. If it lasts a week I suggest getting checked for pneumonia, so that you can get some antibiotics. Zinc and Vitamin D are helpful. Praying y'all don't need any of that and your immune system just whips it.

Thanks. So far I'm pretty confident that we'll all be ok. I don't feel well, but I've definitely felt worse before. Seems worse than a cold but not as bad as a flu but with some weird twists like the diminished taste.
They actually do an online meeting with the doctor. My wife was prescribed a steroid and an antibiotic to deal with a sinus infection.lk
I have read great things about this group but guess I don't understand what they do
I know they recommend alternative treatments that have proven to work and that hospitals won't allow
But that link makes it look like they find Docs in your particular area who will treat you.
Is that right?
My wife used these guys and was happy with the treatment. My wife and I both caught it in January and February. Tested positive for about a week and felt strange for about a week longer. Hope you all get well soon.

I've got pretty bad nasal congestion, have sore muscles, and I'm very dizzy when I stand up. I also feel like I weigh 400 pounds - every step is a lot of work. However, strangely my fever hasn't gone over 99.4, and today I don't even have a fever but feel much worse than I did yesterday when I technically did.

Sorry to hear that, I went through as well. Now, why do your posts always end up talking about rubber and latex? So my sense of taste and smell mostly held on for awhile. I had breakfast and was fine. This afternoon, I cooked up some hamburgers - seasoned them well, put condiments, etc. on them. Nothing - like chewing on soft rubber or latex. I poured up some cherry cola, tasted it - may as well be seltzer. It's the weirdest thing. It's not like my tongue is numb. I can feel the carbonation bubbles but absolutely no taste at all.
