.. and it's good news for us

will be interesting how this Nelson/Hicks recruitment ends up. it would be stupid to close shop if we actually were to get Nelson (who in his own right is a stud).

I would love to get them both, but getting either one would be good enough for me...I think Nelson is a difference maker. (but so is Hicks)

If we get nelson that means neither OU nor a&m does, which makes it hurt twice as bad, not the same with Hicks.

Apparently there isn't a head-to-head battle with OU we can't win this year. I thought Nelson was an OU lean but word is he doesn't feel like OU is pursuing him much right now. So nice to be on the other side of these battles right now

Good, good.

Even if Hicks is marginally better than Nelson, getting Nelson hurts OU so that evens out. Ideally one of them commits to Texas soon and, if the other still decides to come here as the 4th LB, then that guy's a player.

In my opinion, you'd have to be crazy to be a top defensive player and NOT want to come to Texas right now.

That talent surrounding you is going to be amazing.

if ou isn't recruiting him all that hard, there is a reason.

either they decided he is expendable for some reason or they picked up that he was backing away from them. if they don't like their odds for getting him, they can save face by backing off on his recruitment. that way they can say they really wanted somebody else more (much like their qb recruitment this year -- they were all over connor wood until he picked us).

It will be interesting to see this thread next Monday at this time.

I believe Nelson has already retracted this stance w/your own Geoff Ketchum, so you might want to tap the brakes a little.

I still think he's OU's to lose, but we shall see.

OU is right. He hasn't verbaled yet and so it is never over till he does. In fact it isn't completely over until the signature is on the line.

well i've always had a cautious optimism with this kid. i'm sure you'll hear a different story after he sees the ou spring game. the point is still that after some serious negativity regarding his interest to texas, we now stand a pretty good chance

Well if we start to feel that Nelson isn't going to happen or that Hicks isn't going to happen we need to offer Rashad Favors. He'd jump at an offer.

Wish I felt more confident of Nelson's interest...I still think he goes to the dark side when the dust settles. Nelson would look very good in burnt orange, especially if we are, or become, a non-player for Hicks.

I don't understand why there seems to be this ongoing feeling that we're becoming a non-player, or at least have a significantly weaker hold as the key player, with Hicks. The fact that he didn't get down here for either Jr Day or the spring game, for a high school junior who lives a thousand miles away, doesn't ring like a true signal that he's leaning elsewhere. Just a kid enjoying being recruited and being a kid. He hasn't said to anybody, at least in anything I've read, that he's no longer seriously looking at Texas. Let tOSU and anybody else camp out on him. I still say when it's all said and done, he's down here for a serious visit this summer and he's wearing burnt orange in the fall of 2010. And a LB as good as his film shows is worth being patient for.

C'mon now. Let's all drink this Kool-Aid. It's good.
