Conference Finals - Who do you got?

anyone ever read the Lakers forum? Lakersground or something like that..just google for it. Over there, after the Game 6 loss to Houston, the Laker fans were complaining about a fix against the Lakers! That the NBA hates Kobe! (loves Lebron due to cleaner image), that the NBA wanted to get it to game 7 for ratings (same for the Boston -Orl series).

It's just mad how paranoid fans are. Seriously, 9/11 kook consiparcy type paranoia. Good grief people, if the Nugs had just made some clutch shots (and FTs) LIKE ORLANDO did tonight, they could have pulled out a great road win..

btw, I've heard the following NBA rule of thumb over the years...
"first team to 100 wins".
In both games 1 of LA-Den and Cle-Orl, this held true. Interesting stat.

Damnn..there's a bunch of haters on this thread.
I'm not a fan of either of the four teams left, but give credit when credit is due.
The Lakers are the best team in the NBA, just face it. Yeah, the NBA has issues with refs determining the game and they are campaining for a KOBE v. LeBRON finals. I think after Orlando took game 1 and LA squeezed by Denver in game 1; both conf finals will go 7 games and the finals will go 6 games. LA has the best bench of all four teams and the best scoring threat.

Go Knicks 09' - 10'

the team with the best bench and the best coach wins. Therefore it's LA for sure in the west, and I although I was very surprised by the East game last night, I still see the Cavs winning in less than 7.

Dumb comments regarding refs throwing game 1 of Lakers vs. Nuggets series. Nuggets could have won that game had they played better down the stretch. They threw it away, and LA made the play on the inbound pass, then made their FTs down the stretch.

In a close game you could argue that any one foul could cost the game and thus the refs are throwing the game. That just didn't happen in game 1 of this series. The coach of the nuggets would tell you the same thing.

Nuggets made the plays at the end of game 2 that they failed ot make at the end of game 1. Now both series are tied 1-1. Officials have not been a factor in my mind in either of these games.

Of course conspiracy theorists will tell you that the NBA wants these series to go 6 or 7 games and thus giving the road teams a game early has made this more a possibility.

if anything, the calls went against LA tonight, so maybe the Laker fans on their forum (LeeHarveyKobe.com) were right!

The poster above who stated that LA is dead in Denver may be right. Lucky for LA if the format was 2-3-2 they may not make it back to LA.

btw, the "first team to 100 wins" is 3 for 3 in these Conference Finals. Tonight, tied at 99, Billups hits 2 FTs to make it 101-99 Denver.

It could easily be LA up 2-0. Game 1 was tough getting only 1 day rest after a 7 game series. Then game they blew a big lead at the end of the 1st half.

One of these teams is going to wear down in this series. They will likely lose this series and the next b/c of it. I just don't know which team it will be yet. Seeing Melo limping around at the end of game 2 wasn't a good sign for them. LA obviously needs to get 1 game in Denver out of the next 2 to make it a 3 game series with 2 of those being in LA.

Hmmm...you make the call!!!!!

A punch to the pit and the other grabbing an arm during a lay-up....seems clean from Nugget colored shades, lol

The Lakers had their chances. They blew a big first half lead in that half and, after regaining the lead late, failed to corral loose balls while also missing free throws. The Nuggets made all but one of a slew of shots from the line and got to loose balls, sometimes by hustle and sometimes by luck. That's ballgame.

The Lakes need someone to step up and knock down some Js, and they need to play stronger inside. Their rebounding has generally been good but their post O has been just about non-existent. Bryant needs to be more aggressive off the dribble against Melo, who is doing a good job of D but could get caught in some foul trouble if the Lakes attacked the rim more. Odom needs to ball. That guy disappears for long stretches. Fisher needs to sit and Brown needs to assume some control. The Lakers' O is not functioning smoothly. Farmar, Walton, Arriza all need to make some shots to make Denver work.

Series is far from over. The Lakes can get one in Denver.

Agreed far from over. This has 7 games written all over it. Each game has come down to the play in the final minutes. The team that made the right decisions and knocked down their shots at te end of the games has won. Kobe needs to distribute more. They are doubling him and pretty much holding onto him even when he doesn't have the ball. He'll get his points but he'll work too hard to get them. He needs to punish the Nuggets by moving the ball around. Of course his teammates need to hit the shots.

LA/Denver series back on serve. LA played the best down the stretch in this one. Does this mean Denver is wearing down?...more mentally right now than anything else I guess. 76 FTs combined is a bit excessive.

The last 2 NBA games have come down the the 2 best players in the world knocking down clutch 3's. A Kobe vs LaBron final is what everbody wants to see. And as much as I hate the Lakers, i hope it happens.

for 4 of 4 , first team to 100 won again. Lakers-Den gm 3.

but something is amiss this playoffs. how much better would Orlando be with Jamir Nelson? Boston with KG? enough to topple King James? Because of these injuries and even to Yao/Tmac, I'm seeing these playoffs as tainted.

Well, it isn't hurting Orlando. Orlando is now up 2-1 against Cleveland with the next game at home. They could be up 3-0 if Lebron hadn't hit a game winning 3 at the buzzer in game 2.

Many on here have predicted a seep or 5 game series win for Cavs. However the Magic have clearly been the better team thus far. They play inside and outside. They rebound and play good defense. The Cavs have a limited bench and are inconsistent shooting the ball from the outside at times.

The Magic are the suprise of the NBA this year. But it is not over yet and I am sure Lebron will bring something special to the court in game 4.

jeez just realized that on a national holiday they are starting tonight's playoff game at 8pm central time. We get spoiled during the early rounds with some games starting much earlier in the day on the weekend and then once you get to the final 2 rounds all the games start after 8pm.

Right now Kobe and Gasol are playing 2 on 5 while the rest of the Lakers might as well be watching from the stands.

Denver kills LA on the boards in game 4. 58 to 40 rebounding edge and 20 to 9 offensive rebounding edge. LA also committed 7 more PFs giving Denver 14 more FTs shots of which they made 13 more than LA. Other than that the game was pretty much even.

Still on serve going back to LA for a 3 game series.

Fisher, Odom, and Ariza were fairly useless in Game 4, especially on the defensive end. The Lakers give up on rebounds so easily: a sign that they're not forced to push the pace in practice.

I think the wear from the Rockets series is getting to some of the guys. Other than Kobe, it was pretty apparent in games 2-3 against Denver that they were running out of steam at points in the game.

Maybe. They also looked pretty bad in a couple of the games in the Rockets series. They just seem to have this poor attitude where they will show up for some games and not show up for others. They seem to think they can do just enough to win this series in 7 with the home court advantage. It may work out, it may not....either way I don't like the attitude.

Cavs lose a close one in game 4. Seemed they had the upper hand with a few minutes left in the 3rd. Then had a 77-71 lead and then they started jacking up outside shots and missing them. Over the next 5 minutes they only scored 2 points and then the score was 79-81 Orlando. Then over the next 4 minutes they only score 5 points and the score is 84-91 Orlando. So in that combined 9 minute stretch they were outscored 20-7. They had to claw their way back into the game just to keep it close. They lost this game during that stretch though.

Now 3-1 Orlando. I think Cavs will take game 5 back at home but not sure what will happen after that.
