Compare this team to the Final Four team

Well, I think Bob in Houston has forgotten more about BB than I will ever know and that is why I am curious that he would say that.

I know Lemmons was a crusty guy and there were issues with Dodds (I think).

Anyway, BIH, please enlighten us as to why you believe that.

TJ was not a poor defender. He was not as good as Ivey, but he was rarely lit up by his opponent when Texas was playing man to man.

As for Lemons versus Barnes, based on their respective histories, one can argue that Lemons was a better offensive coach, but I wouldn't agree that is true on defense.

Barnes reconstructed his offensive methodology this season and if he continues this year's success offensively, it will be fair to say the two are equal. The fact is that except for the Thompson-Wacker combo, Lemons never had the talent Rick Barnes has had, even the Moore-Krivacs-Baxter trio.

Isn't being a good recruiter part of being a good coach? Barnes ranks ahead of Lemons in this category.

And the bracket we secured in 2003 was quite possibly one of the easiest regions in recent memory. Who did we beat? A 16, 9, 5, and 7? That team faced much harder competition in the Big 12.

Although if you follow bracketology, we might get an even better one this year.

for those of us who got to watch the '78 team, can you imagine Krivacs with a 3pt line back then? he could fill it up from anywhere on the floor. great guy as well. last i heard, he was back in Indiana. anyone know for sure?

Funny, I actually thought of this thread last night in the second half whilst cursing in fairly explicit terms at the television. 2003 would have rolled this team for one reason, defense. James Thomas might have killed someone if he was on the floor last night, no way he gives up all those offensive boards. Ivey would have stuck to Pullen and no way he goes off like he did in the second half. At some pointits not about the other team hitting all its shots, its about the defense you are playing.

Tristan Thompson for Klotz but otherwise 2003 just had a chemistry that this team shows flashes of but isnt consistently holding on to.
