Commit No. 1 is in: Jaxon Shipley

"His 40 time is slow as hell"

HUH?????

4.5 is not slow. He is perhaps the best route runner I have seen in high school, and I have been involved with that in one fashion or another for 45 years.

Maddog will have him at 4.4 in no time. And he's already said his plans are to work on getting bigger and faster. I think he is a great pick-up and will be fine.

I remember when Jordan Shipley came aboard, some here were grousing "...just what we need, another slow white guy at wide receiver"...how'd that one work out? Jaxon Shipley may be one of our most important recruits for '11.

you're right coolhorn cause I was one of those people that thought Jordan wasn't going to do much for us. It seems like it is the guys like Shipley and Goodwin who end up coming up big, and the higher profile guys with the speed and the size that end up being disappointments. I guess I shouldn't worry about him.

Everyone says that he is one of the best at running routes. Being at the right place at the right time goes a long way to making a great receiver. Not to mention that everyone says he has great hands.

For the doubters or those questioning his speed. Here is a nice article. He ran a 4.5 40 a year ago, and is running track as well. My guess is he will be a great one like his brother. Excellent football speed and attacks the ball like few others to go with amazing route running ability as stated.

The other receivers we have coming in, this is going to be receiver university. Texas will have so many weapons on offense.
