Just got off the phone with Brownwood wide receiver Jaxon Shipley and Brownwood head coach (and his father) Bob Shipley. The Shipleys went down to Austin today, met with Mack Brown and the Texas coaches, and Jaxon became the Longhorns' first commitment for the class of 2011.

Met him once. Extremely polite and talks just like his brother. Film looks like him too, with sharp cuts and glue hands.

I love the fact he is the first official commit from what will be a special class. Kid is special in numerous ways. Hook 'em!

I am surprised that he isn't ranked higher. He is a clone of his brother and his brother was one of the best college skill position players over the past few years .

Thanks Clendon. You are correct: Number 10 in state isn't too shabby. I was thinking that he was somewhere in the 15-20 range. I guess I was wrong. Anyway, I am glad to have him.

From talking with a few folks close to the high school program he may even be better then Jordan. Or should say better at this point in his game.
