Colt F'n McCoy

Hell yes.

Great game. Looks like he came out of his "slump". Keep an eye on the school record book this year. It is about to be rewritten.

What struck me was that of his 5 incompletions 3 were drops that the receiver had both hands on, and 1 was completed out of bounds. The only really bad throw was one he forced trying to make the "Q package" work to Chiles.

McCoy looked incredible. His throws were decisive and accurate. But what surprised me was his speed in open space. McCoy has always been a good scrambler. But I never thought of him as being blazing fast. Tonight he looked blazing fast. Granted it was FAU, so some things are tough to gauge. But assuming that FAU's linebackers have decent speed, McCoy has incredible speed. Their LBs were helpless when Colt took the ball to the outside.

Without reading any of the above posts I can tell you that Colt looked very poised. He was extremley comfortable often looking to his third read before taking off and picking up 7-8 yards. Great game Colt.

Nice job tonight - that was as well - better - than we really could have expected from him tonight. His backs may be ticked that he took 100-yard day away from one of them, but when he got hot he just took over the game. (And that happened around when he threw his first pass.

He's my manin man. Returned to wearing my Colt cap. I wore it to 2006 scrimmage when I first saw him play then to home games in his great season. Hoping this continues.

I wore it to tonight's game.

Colt was brilliant tonight, both running and throwing. the horns had a very effective short passing game. Colt ran great but I would like to see him run less (especially when the horns are way ahead) to reduce the risk of injury.

When Colt runs (especially on draw plays), he really has a lot of subtle moves and seemingly perfect timing about when to cut.

Every pass he threw was accurate except for the ball that was at the FAU LB.

I disagree. His throw to the LB was very accurate...to the LB. Luckily he was not expecting it and not used to such a pretty ball being thrown. He was in awe of Colt and boobed the INT.

But Colt looked awesome! He must be doing sprinting exercises or drills because his motor added a couple of cylinders in the off season.

Yes, he did look sharp - very sharp... perhaps his best game as a Horn. He seemed very confident. His passes were on the mark and had zip on them. His crazy, I refuse to go down, running made him the leading rusher for the Horns. Give the OL credit as he had a lot of time to pass, most of the time.

Very impressive night Mr. McCoy

Looked really confident and decisive in the pocket, which is likely the result of an offensive line that man-handled the FAU rush. Really impressive decision making and really impressive speed in the open field and coming out of the pocket. Great game Colt!

He's learning his lessons from GD to avoid INTs. If the opportunity to complete a pass isn't there then don't force it. Pull it down and run. He has two years to go and may very well hold virtually all UT QB records by the time he's done. Outstanding game with a lot of new receivers.

Colt was outstanding tonight. He was very poised running the offense - of course it helped that the O-Line gave him great protection. When it did break down his running was incredible.

Ironic that this was Vince's night yet Colt broke his career passing yards; and...Colt's running TD was to the right and angled into the endzone just like VY's USC winning TD.

Hook'em!!!

Colt looked like an upperclassman. All growns up.

If this is what he is going to do this year, we're going to bang on some teams.

He took what the defense gave him and had a great game. I am definitely pumped about what he can do this season!

Colt's leadership is what stands out to me. During the summer he said he wanted to focus on improving his own play. Well, in this opening game he led by example.

Great to see him throwing to many young receivers. Irby seemed to be very comfortable in there and his development at TE is remarkable. Kirkendoll is coming along and the horns need that 3rd and 4th guy and he is that guy along with Malcolm Williams.

All of the top QB's in the Big 12 looked good. McCoy as well as Harrell, Bradford, Reesing, Daniel. Hell OU's passing game looked very efficient and 2nd stringer Halze looked as good as Bradford though it wasn't a tough team at all.

I was trying to think how you would rank these QB's and passing games based on game 1 and crazy to think that as good as Colt was it was still probably 4th or 5th best in the conference. This conference is stacked and we need Colt to keep playing like this, very efficient with little to no INT's, converting on 3rd down, getting 50-100 yards/game on the ground, etc.

I love this quote.

"I did get hit out of bounds a couple of times," McCoy said. "I compete really hard, so when I get hit out of bounds I don't really know what's going on, I just want to get back on the field ... I guess Vince was right there, he was probably talking trash."

Colt is the best passing QB in UT history and I really hope he gets an NFL look. You think Jason White was tough? Colt is better. Shame on anyone who has ever criticized our QB. "thats my teammate man".
